FWE Help with crashing + load order

Post » Wed Aug 24, 2011 7:30 am

Just installed everything for the mod.

It likes to crash at the exact same spot a few times. I then change my load order etc and it happens in a different spot.

I have now got to the stage where it crashes to a blue screen.

Here is my load order.

Here is the info I can provide on this:

CRAFT - Activation Perk.esp should not be needed at all, you should just drop this out of your Load.

I don't run the optional FWE files myself, so can't say much on those. Other than that your Load seems okay, though a Merged Patch (from BASH or FOMM) should also be applied to your Load.

Where is it crashing at specifically.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I'm having trouble understanding the "merged patch" I have FO3edit 3_0_15 experimental added into my Fallout folder with a edited shortcut FO3Masterupdate.exe.

I have run the Masterupdate as instructed.

As for the merged patch I am confused in how I should be creating it.

Do I create it with the original FO3edit? Masterupdate? Or should I just forget and remove the Masterupdate. ( I have tried it with both but It will freeze when trying to add tracers, vats etc,)

Thanks again.

(Craft activating perk removed.)

Edit: The game will crash at random spots, but once it has crashed at THAT spot, it will crash again in THAT spot until I decides not to or I have edited things.

MasterUpdate seems to be a debatable thing, though I do not believe it will cause any issue with FWE (in fact, I think it is typically encouraged with FWE if memory serves correct).

To make the Merged Patch, you want to load up the regular FO3Edit (not the renamed MasterUpdate one). This should pull up a window to allow you to select your mods (ones you run should already be checked), hit okay when your mods are selected.

The next bit can get trickier, since you need to apply some filters and I forget the correct ones, but that is done with a right click on anything in the left half of the window (should be a list of your mods), and then selected from the menu to apply filters.

I know there is a PDF out there that covers how to run through all that, I just forget the link. I know most things in the filter window you want UNchecked, save for the one in the bottom center (only one I remember for sure offhand at work). Once that is done, you apply the filters, it will take some time to process, and then you do another right click in the left hand side of the window (mod list again), and select to create a merged patch. When you go to close FO3Edit after it is done (wait for it to say done on the right half of the window), you will be asked to save/name your new merged patch. Save that bad boy and make sure you select it in your Load at the very bottom of the list.

Hope that helps, though you may want to find that PDF (or mayhaps someone else will have the link handy) for your first couple times doing it.

I am in the filter window at the moment. The only boxes that are Ticked are.

LEFT SIDE

By conflict status overall + 6 sub boxes.

By conflict status for this particular record + 10 sub boxes

Only injected

Only persistent.

Only references injected

Only visible when distant

Only has VWD mesh

Conflict Status inherited by parent

------------

I could not find that file explaining what need to be checked.

I will create the merged patch and give it a go.

Thank you for replying with the help. Much appreciated.

Ok I am having the issue where it will not add "FO3 Wanderers Edition - Optional Restore Tracers.esp" while trying to create a merged patch.

I have removed it from my load and it will just stop at the next file.

I have no error warring but it will not load any further.

:(

Edit. I don't know if this has anything do to with it or I am correct in doing so. But to start the game my shortcut on my desktop is linked to the FOSE, which in turn, starts the game.

I was told to do this.

Edit: Ok it always blue screens when I cross the threshold of a door while doing an outcast quest. (I'm guessing from the alternative start)

I could just avoid that area but it has happend in other areas of the game. But I it didn't blue screen apart from now.

I've re-installed mods, sorted FO3edit, add a merged patch, created a masterpatch.exe, revised my load order.... I have no idea what the problem is.....
