Game too difficult

Post » Wed Aug 24, 2011 2:29 am

Hi guys,
I installed New Vegas few days ago and then i immediatly modded it. I then started a new game (very easy as difficult in game play) but i die every minute. Every insect or other form of live touch me and i'm dead.
I think that one of the mod i installed could have increase the difficult level. Could you please tell me which one so i can remove it ? (i suspect a world of pain)
I also noticed that after few duels my character is already at level 4. Is this supposed to be normal ?

Here my list :

Hi guys,

There's your problem.

I suggest you first complete the game, or large part of it, without mods. Then apply mods based on your needs. From what I gather you don't even know what mods you installed. Just strolled the top lists and picked cool names?

To answer your question, it's Project Nevada causing the difficulty.

It's probably "A world of Pain". Great mod, but the enemies it adds are wicked tough if you're not expecting them.

On the other hand, if you want to keep it, just get a hold of one of the new M weapons it adds and you'll be fine. The rest of the game will be a cake walk though.

The mod is awesome for adding new areas to explore, so please don't think I'm bad mouthing it. I'd love to have it in my game, it just unbalanced things too much. I know someone is working on a patch to bring it more in line with Vanilla, but I don't know what stage that's at, or if it will be released. If you have lots of time and understood FNVedit you could make a "nerf" patch yourself.

Project Nevada on Very Easy difficulty makes the game much more merciless than even vanilla on Very Hard. You are also using A World of Pain which, in my justified opinion, is grossly imbalanced.

You also seemed to have jumped into the mods. I did that once and completely ruined my Fallout 3 install because I did not read directions.

World of Pain and Nevada on a first playthrough... Yeah, not a good idea.

World of Pain, is more something if you played through it before and I'd say isn't something to add at the start of a new game.

Project Nevada does increase difficulty compared to vanilla, though early on in both vanilla and modified it's inadvisable to venture too much of the main road until you have leveled a bit. There's some nasty things lurking around.
So either you are encountering stuff you shouldn't at your level (larger scorpions and cazadors). You could also tweak Project Nevada to behave more like vanilla and delete AWOP for now.

Thank all for the replies !
Just to clarify a bit :

I played oblivion for years customizing it with MODS (MMM + FCOM + whataver you could think) so i just not chose the top 25 mods. I read istructions of every mod i installed to understand how to install it and if i need some extra compatibilty patch. I chose to mod my game from the beginning because i know that MODS can REALLY improve the game.

Anyway thx to yours suggestion im going to remove AWOP and see what's going on.

Thx

Mattia
