Charisma?

I always have this special very low! Is it important? If you gave it high what advantages does it give you? I normally put points in to INT and AGL!

I believe it affects the skills it governs: meaning that, low charisma will = very low starting barter and speech skills. My recent char has their charisma at 1-2 and it gave me 9 barter and speech.

Also it has a lot to do with your companions and how they act. Mainly dmg and health I believe. I could be wrong about the second part

Dumping the Extra points from Charisma and putting them into intelligence will make up for the low Speech/Barter stats. Easily.

A shame IMO... Just because you are smart does not mean you are a salesman or a even articulate; and vocabulary by itself does not make you a charismatic speaker.

* But what about the companion improvements? (Not something I like or agree with, but it is a mechanic of the game.)

I understood what you've said, Charisma could have a higher impact in the world. If worked just like the description, people disposition towards you, I would be happy.

But if you think about it, almost every SPECIAL can be a dump stat: I'm a specialized explosives courier, what use Luck has to me? ;)

EXCUSE MY CHARISMA!

poped collar

This is ironic because in FONV charisma is worthless and you can't even do something as simple as this with it.

Gizmo, Unless your playing HC. Companions are generally invincible. They can never "die" from attack, and usually they are only good at Helping kill things. Plus gave the right weapon they can do tremendous Damage. Mercy, Annabelle, Anti-materiel Rifle etc.

Adding the extra 2-4 Skill points per level will make that up.

Bethesda/Obsidian should have done, instead of having so many speech checks, they should of added "Charisma" Checks instead, that would of called for a much needed stat. Such as talking with Red Lucy about a bigger reward should of called for a 6,7,8 charisma check.. or... the "smaller" Speech/Barter checks have like 4-5 Charisma check.

I've never tried it without HC.

Charisma does not make you a good speaker, it makes a good speaker great.
(But in terms of these games... I'm in favor of both kinds of checks; perhaps even both checks at once to trigger an event or dialog path.)

"makes a good speaker great"

See thats what I'm saying. If I were to take the "Vigor test" I'm sure my Charisma would be a 2. I'd be shocked if it were 4+ hahaha.
