Ok i've been around these forums watching from the shadow's and so far haven't seen a topic about this. im guessing we all around here pretty much accept that Alduin/Akatosh/Aurie'l(spelling) are all different sides of the same 3 faced coin. my guess being that alduin when he awakens from his nap over powers akatosh and take's control to end the current kalpa. now im pretty sure aka/alduin is the strongest of the Nine but surely if it pleased the other 8 they could stand up to alduin and reimprison him and reinstate akatosh as the dominant personality so why dont they? i know all about the argument/convo alduin had with the leaper king about what would happen if a kalpa was left to run without being restarted which i dont understand why would it be so bad.?

also when creating mundus didnt the et'ada sacrifice there physical forms and actually become nirn? if so doesnt that mean alduin is literally eating the gods?

The earthbones are literally Nirn; the Aedra are more like principles that govern Mundus as far as I understand (one of the loremasters will correct me if I don't understand, hopefully).

As to why they don't "fight againts Alduin and re-imprison him"; first off, why would they want to? Read Shor, son of Shor. They're just as much on his side as on the other.
Secondly, I don't think he's really "imprisoned", per se.

Thats the best way I'd be able to put it. I interpret the earthbones as the stabalized Mundus and the physics that are bound to it, and vice versa.

@ Sameron, regarding the Divines stopping Alduin, I'm sorry I don't know why exactly, but I don't think that it could work like that. Its not their job/obligation to stop him.

It is only one persons destiny to stop Alduin, as I'm sure we will all find out firsthand.

Kinda makes me wonder though, if the player character is supposedly anointed by the God's for the purpose of saving the world, wouldn't that imply that perhaps the other Aedra themselves have something to do with stopping Alduin?

the Earthbones gave themselves entirely to mundus; they no longer have phyiscal forms. the Aedra with planes were selfish and only gave their immortality. it was like making a huge scuicide pact, and after everyone dies being like, "oh [censored]" but to finish the making of mundas they basically kinda cut off their finger.

ok i get what ya'll mean that the 8 might have no reason or no power to stop alduin but then again isn't the dovahkiin basically an avatar of akatosh or a mortal blessed by aka/the 8 to stop alduin from ending this kalpa? but why even give mortals a hero that could stop him if keeping the kalpa going would be so terrible?

also so the 9 originally at the creatio of mundus 8? sacrificed there physical forms becoming mundus i'e the grass trees stones water etc and also stabilising it's physics kinda like the real world belief of gaea? but with multiple personalitie's

I thought MK said they ensure there is always a loophole and in this case, the Dovakihn(sp?) is the loophole. This is them stopping it.
