And try not to *Quote* me. thx
Anyways, there as been an idea formulating in my mind, and its so intense, I had to share it with you guys on the forum! As you all are aware, none of the past fallout games had the option to maintain a relationship with a female/male character and later on have a family. Some games have let you have a taste at family life, such as Fable and Second Life, but have not been as satisfying as we wished. Well, I have ideas that will keep Fallout 4 fresh and will stimulate your wasteland lifestlye!
I am aware that most Fallout fans would not wish to make *Pit Stops* to feed the family but I think that would make the game more realistic and last a bit longer, just so as long it isn't mandatory. But even if the Fallout designers do extend the game-play into having familes, I don't want it to be another [censored] Fable 3 experience, but rather a way to make maintaining your family fun and fit the wasteland lifestlye!
Here is how I imagine the family system to work on NOT hardcoe mode.
How about if the game is not set to the *hard core* option, as seen in Fallout: New Vegas. Your family can just kinda *Be* there; much like Fable 3, where all you have to do to maintain them is to check on them once or twice every week, getting stuff from them (read the "Child labour" section).
Here is how I imagine the family system to work on hardcoe mode
So, just like in the hard core mode, where you have to worry about maintaining your Hunger and H20, you have to come back to the house every once so often to *feed* the family. But, if you don't feel like making constant pit-stops, you can *stock* the house with food, which the family NPC can feed themselves as long as there's food in the refrigirator.
Child Labour
Whats the point of having children if you can't put them to work? Thats why along with having children, you should be able to make them do labour; giving you items every day. I have a list of what chores the children could do to earn themselves free food and shelter. To keep things simple, the list of chores should be limited by 5. Also, I think the job should have *risk* factors, just because it makes the game a bit more interesting and edgy. But I suggest that, depending on your skills, you can teach the child to do a job properly and effectivly, giving you more items and reducing the risk factor! One more thing... since im sure that fallout 4 won't feature children below the age of 18 go into combat and possibly dying, if the chore involves any killing
BTW, what I mean by risk factor is... depending on the job and the skill, the chore you have selected your child to do will have a "risk factor". For instance, since cooking isn't such a dangerous job, the risk factor should be 0/10. But, if the child was to scavenge; and anything can happen when your scavenging, the risk factor for that job should be 5/10. If the child ends up failing the job due to a high risk factor, the child should either come home and wait for his punishment, or be killed; depending on the job. Now back to the child labour options
Farming:
Skill needed: Survival 75
Risk Factor: 3/10
Age: Any
If your house has grass somewhere near it, and its safe outside, then your child should be able to farm. So, if you didnt teach your child to Farm properly, the child will put 1 piece of produce in the refigirator a day. But, if you teached your child how to farm, the child will put 3 pieces of produce in the refrigirator a day!
Cooking
Skill needed: Survival 40
Risk Factor: 1/10
Age: Any
Your house isnt a house without an oven/campfire, and your children should be able to cook food in refigirator with it! I would imagine that if you didnt teach your child how to cook, you only get 20% of the goods in the refigirator cooked a day. But, if you teach your child how to cook, you get 50% of the goods in the fridge cooked a day!
Scauaging
Skill needed: Guns 40, Survival 20, Sneak 30
Risk Factor: 6/10
Age: 18+
You could just let your children farm and cook, but that won't be good enough if you have a family of 4 or something. So, let the oldest child can go out on a scauaging run, and hope that he returns with some stuff you can't get from the wasteland, such as junk, purified water, and dry food. If you don't teach the kid how to scavagenge correctly, the child will initially only give you 1 dry food, 2 junk, 1 dirty water bottle. Or, he could end up never returning home, due to the risk factor. But, if you teach the kid how to scavange properly, then he get 2 dry foods, 4 junk, and 2 purified water bottles! Plus, the risk factor will be then set to 4/10!
Vendoring
Skill needed: Speech 60 Barter 40
Risk Factor: 4/10
Age: Any
I know every one of us has had stuff we needed to sell but didnt have the time to. Now, you can get your children to sell your [censored] for you! If you havent taught your child how to sell stuff properly, the child will only sell 30% of the stuff you give him, and is more prone to getting robbed. But, if you teach your child how to sell stuff correctly, then he will sell 60% of that stuff you want him to sell.
Hunting
Skill needed: Guns 75 Survival 30
Risk Factor: 7/10
Age: 18+
Growing children NEED meat (not really)! You give the oldest son a gun and tell him to hunt animals to put meat on the table. If you don't teach the kid to hunt correctly, then he only comes back with 1 piece of meat to put in the fridge, and he will defiantly get his ass mauled! But, if you teach him how to hunt properly, then he will come back with 3 meats to put in the fridge, and the risk factor will be lowered to 4/10, reducing the chance of your oldest son getting his ass mauled!
Got any more ideas for child labour, post it in the thread!
