No fat people...

Post » Fri Aug 26, 2011 1:47 pm

I don't mind either, but excuses like this, which completely ignore the bulk of the explanation given, drive me mad. The size of wealth doesn't matter much, and if you read the explanation you'd see that it wasn't even mentioned. The mountain environment conditions themselves don't easily permit there to be people with excess baggage. I'm just going to quote myself:

On top of that, in Skyrim they're at a high elevation, which means thinner air, which means every action takes a lot more energy than normal and the body gets fatigued a lot faster than normal, which means it will rapidly burn off fat. And, considering the dynamic terrain, anyone who moves anywhere outside their own house is going to get a workout. They also don't eat fast food and the other garbage that contributes to obesity in today's world, so their nutritional habits themselves create a leaner populace. And, they don't sit around in front of computers and desks all day, there is always maintenance to be done to continue their mode of life, just as their is today by people who live within similar means. In those conditions, you live to work to live.

And fat people in the middle ages owned their own estates with servants enough that they had to do nothing. A single Skyrim town would be the number of people that would serve one such a fat person, ignoring the effects of the mountainous Skyrim environment.

Again, it'd be heavily unrealistic to have fat people in Skyrim.

So everyone in Skyrim is constantly moving to keep himself warm? Looking at some of the armors/clothes shown on the screenshots that would probably be needed...lol.

I think what you describe is your own vision of how Skyrim should be and not how it will be in the game (and not how I envision it to be either - a country full of tough guys/gals living off the land?). There is more than enough food, there will be wealthy people and no, not everyone will be having an exhausting job and walk around in the mountains constantly. Even in cold climates there were fat people in the middle ages.

No one is saying that 30% of the population in Skyrim should be fat. But there should be a few fat people, everything else is unrealistic in a country with enough food and wealth. Enough wealth to build large cities, castles etc. It's a bit ridiculous to claim there should be no fat people because everyone in Skyrim is a tough guy who's constantly working, fighting and running around in the mountains.

EDIT:

Oh and...

How many fat people do you see in even modern impoverished African nations?

The size of wealth doesn't matter much, and if you read the explanation you'd see that it wasn't even mentioned.

Oh...... my friends did you not know, the fat people were a seperate race like the Redgaurd/Imperial seperation, they demanded the dwemer to make mechanical food, the dwarves highly insulted waged a war against the fat people.........no one in this bloody episode of history survived, explaining why there are no fat people and no dwarves.

Fat people can't run very fast, so the Dragons have eaten them all.

Fat people can't run very fast, so the Dragons have eaten them all.

Dragons only appear at the start of the main quest, this argument is invalid.

Stop dodging it people, it's confirmed. No biggy, just disappointing that they didn't reach such a level of development yet. That's all.

I like how you bold and increase the font of what you need to try to prove your point, yet you ignore the obvious. Don't become a journalist.

1) IT'S NOT CONFIRMED

2) "Each race and gender has a light and heavy build and you can pick any level in between." Heavy could equal FAT, while all the screenshots we've seen were somewhere "in between" light and heavy (for example, very thin, thin, toned, muscular, fat)

3) Videos and screenshots are not CONFIRMATION

4) Confirmation is word from Beth that specifically no fat people are in OR playing the game yourself

Maybe anyone with more than a little meat on their bones gets picked off by the Bosmer?

Skyrim most likely won't have fat people. I agree that there most likely aren't fat people. But there's been no confirmation. This jacktard keeps saying it's confirmed when it's not. Obviously it's a pet-peeve of mine (people saying something is confirmed when it isn't). P.S. jacktard I say in jest. wtf does it even mean? I dunno. But deceptive talk annoys me. Sorry.

Besides, people have it rough in Tamriel, they cant just sit and grow fat on a chair all day.
They walk/run around everywhere all the time, no way anyone could get fat.

But yeah, I don't mind not having fat people in game.

I weigh 140 pounds and go to MickeyD's every other day. Stupid fast metabolism keeps me at a consistent weight, though.

I weigh six stone and I go to McDonald's every other day too. But I sleep 15 hours a day and have the slowest metabolism out there. I don't exercise... ... but I only eat one meal a day.

It could not mean that heavy could be equal fat.

http://www.elderscrolls.com/skyrim/media/screenshots/redguard-male/

Look at that screenshot. Does he look fat? Notice he's VERY mascular, but not fat. He doesn't have a fat stomache, he has a flat one. How can you say that this is not the heavy build they were talking about? They said there're two builds. We've seen the light one. And this is DEFINATELY the heavy one.
Use common sense man. We've seen heavy build, and this is it. It's confirmed.

Want them to explicitly say it out loud? have someone twit Pete about it. I'm sure he figured out we already know that there are no fat people.

Maybe every build responds to a fat<-->fit slider. So you can have:

Light) wimpy thin PC<-->ripped but wiry thin PC

Medium) average joe<-->ripped gymnast body

Heavy) fat slob<-->muscular hulk

It seems likely that most people are just leaving the fat/fit slider all the way over on 'fit', since they aren't spending much time in the CC.

Its possible that BGS has a totally 1-dimensional slider setup for the body, but it isn't necessarily the case.

The great thing about this setup is that the light build slider could also interact with the age slider, allowing wrinkled old skinny people, which would be great news for realism.

If possible, my Brother Francois may use this http://images.teamtalk.com/09/03/800x600/Friar-Tuck_1947116.jpg as a role-model, lol. He seemed to do okay on his adventures.

I hope those are smoked...
