Whats up with all the one hit KO's in the RipTen article?

Post » Fri Aug 26, 2011 8:59 am

Is it just me or did every one of the enemies he fought go down way too easily, considering he was level 1? One hit KO on a vampire? WTF is that? Everything he fought went down with one swipe of a sword. Hopefully this dude has his difficulty turned WAYYY down, I can't imagine bethesda nerfing the [censored] out of your PC right off the bat.

All the demos have high level players in Todd-mode with maxed stats.

If I remember the article, I think he found an enchanted Fire Sword. Since Vampires are weak to fire the sword would do a massive amount of damage towards them.

He found a fire enchanted claymore and in TES vampires and undead are usually weak against fire. That was the first thing I thought of anyways.

Sigh of relief...

^this. Plus could have been on easy. Plus he had a fire enchanted sword means more damage against vamps and undead.

Actually I heard that combat was really difficult and some people found themselves having to retreat and heal. I think that he was just over exaggerating

He didn't spend a lot of time being very descriptive. Perhaps there was a bit of exaggeration in the writing.

For the purpose of demonstration the game was probably leveled in the PC's favor to get the most out of the allotted time.

I had assumed that A: the stats were demo-beefed so people wouldn't just keep dying and B: The difficulty was lowered for the demo anyways for the same reason. he idea is to show as much as possible, and you only need to see the game over screen once.

They probably died because they were being cut in half with a sword.

So... Bethesda expects us to allow undead children to run rampant across the Nordic lands of Skyrim unchecked and unscathed? Blasphemy... :batman:

I had better shush myself before I get in trouble for speaking of monstrous little hellions in such a way... :blush2:

I'm betting that the dungeons near Riverwood are mostly tuned for low levels. At a low level a powerful sword can make a huge difference.
