Dragon Armor and Forging New Items..

Post » Fri Aug 26, 2011 3:47 pm

So upon reading some older Q and A sessions with Bethesda developers, I realized that they had confirmed Dragon Armor in game. I got to thinking though, that will the dragon armor be similar to Oblivion, or will there be different variations crafted from the very hides and scales of dragons themselves? Is there one legendary set for each race or will we be able to craft a few varieties but only at the highest levels of smithing and forging?

Then I started wondering how repairing armor and items will work.. Will we have to have more raw materials everytime we need to repair? Will we have to kill a dragon or 10 everytime we want to forge a new set of Dragon Armor if it is in fact a possibility?

With all of the daydreamer threads on the forums concerning what a character will be named, how someone will marry outside their gender, or other non gameplay altering questions... I wanted to see how Bethesda would answer questions regarding high level armor and the forging at higher levels..

Thoughts or other questions we should ask regarding this?

Basically I would just ask if armor repair requires consumable raw materials other than the tools.

You might even get an answer if you tweet Pete, but I wouldn't hold your breath.

It would be cool if their was a unique set for each dragon variation but I'm 99% certain that there will be one set. I think you should have to be lvl 100 in smithing to get it at its prime. You collect what you need from the dragons then when you go to make it. At lower levels of smithing you get lower valued versions of the same set. Thats what I think should happen

Well the Dragon Armor in Oblivion wasn't actually made from Dragons, and rather svcked. It just looked cool.
In Skyrim it actually will be made from Dragons, or so we are told. So it's all good.

Smithing and making your own armor and weapons is included in the game (mine ore, melt into ingots, make item) also the ability to strengthen/reinforce armor and weapons to increase damage and protection values is in.

They do, which is why we should be able to take the parts we need while they are still alive! :whistling:

it could work like Monster hunter where we could cut off their tails and scales and then we could open the inventory of the fallen ligaments and get dragon scales, dragon tail, [wyvern tear?] ooh how about a dragon head for our house?! Dragon meat, Dragon eyes? Dragon claws and so on and so forth.

they're not made of ice cream, last i checked.

they burst into flame, their flesh is burned away, but their skeletons DO remain... im starting to wonder if people even paid attention while watching the videos.

i assume we'll be making dragon armor out of their bones, but until we get some more information, who knows...

They already had a picture of a Nord woman wearing what is confirmed to be Dragon BONE armor, now the question is how do we "mine" this
