Craig Sechler confirmed

Post » Fri Aug 26, 2011 6:39 pm

I recently checked The Gaming Liberty and they just had an interview with Craig Sechler (aka the elven races in Oblivion, including the dreaded adoring fan) and he confirmed that he had voiced a couple of characters in Skyrim (he doesn't tell which ones, though. I suspect that he'd still be Barbas (Clavicus Vile's hound)).

I think that's good news because Sechler is a talented voice actor. He can do a surprisingly high amount of different characters without them feeling the same (even if you can recognize the voice). Just listen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fU_qOfzCzDc (the Adoring fan isn't included).

The interview can be found here: http://thegamingliberty.com/index.php/2011/08/25/the-adoring-fan-speaks-an-interview-with-craig-sechler/

Here's a fun part about voicing the Adoring Fan:

CS: This connects in with the last question. Things were going along extremely smoothly until we got to a character called the “Adoring fan” -- who has created…some stir. People are very emotional in their reactions, players are very emotional in their reactions to him! That’s when Mark said “Go crazier, go to a weirder place, get a weird voice going, just don’t be anything like you’ve ever been before!”. And I did, and Mark was very happy with what was happening. But then I suddenly stopped during the recording process and said “Guys. Correct me if I’m wrong…but this character is so…so annoying that he’s going to make people want to quit the game and get away from him!”

Mark replied “That’s exactly what we were looking for. We want them to be so annoyed with him…well actually Craig…they might just choose to kill him” I didn’t realise that there is a bit of an escape from him, even though the Adoring fan is sort of like that bee that chased the bull in the Greek myth. But we came up with something that was extremely effective. Mark sent me a link to a site where people would create, and come up with very creative ways to “get rid” of the Adoring fan. Because of the Adoring fan, I’ve received very kind emails from around the world, where people mention him, among others, but it’s very kind. But it’s interesting to know that a character, created mostly by the writers in Oblivion, but also created by me and Mark, could take on a life of his own.

Cool. I expect many veterans from Oblivion and Fallout will return, although there's a few I wouldnt mind never hearing again.

Does anybody know if there's a sound clip library of the various voice actors from Oblivion anywhere on the web? I haven't been able to find anything. I'd love to place these names to voices for reference.
