Is there a place I can place my loot safely in Dead Money?

Post » Fri Aug 26, 2011 2:35 pm

I am almost over encoumbered in Dead Money right now. So I just have placed where the 3 companions need to be, and I have to head somewhere myself. Right now, I am at the fountian, and I am wondering where can I place my loot safely so I can carry more later on? What is a good safe place? Can I just use any garbage bin and not worry about it resetting and I will be loosing all my loot.

Where can I go and stash my loot?

I always throw my crap in the half-buried trash bin right next to the gate leading back to the Mojave. It's safe and convenient.

it's the gate right behind you at the fountain when you are talking to the hologram of Elijah. Right where you start the dlc. It's also the gate you leave by so you can load up over-encumbered and not have a long slodge to the exit point.

I stash my gear by the suitcase next to the hologram vendor near the fountain to trade junk for prewar money, then switch to the Metal Box near the bar hologram vendor when I'm in the SM casino for the same purpose.

There is several containers near the fountain that'll do. The number of containers that do the old Oblivion thing of deleting and refilling contents in all of NV is very low. The legion drop boxes are the only ones I can even think of right now that the player can get to.

@ the OP:

After you first talk to Elijah, turn around and head for the gate. When you get close he'll mention that it's the way out and locked for the time being. Turn left and look carefully and there will be a half-buried, beaten-to-hell-looking trash can that is perfectly safe to store stuff in.

For that matter, every container not in the vault is safe to store in, although the ones in the other sectors are not exactly convenient for extended use.

I always just dumped everything into the fountain itself, didn't want to bother testing containers.

^ This. I use two containers, the can to the Courier's left of the exit to the Mojave and a suitcase behind the welcome desk at the Casino....and the latter only until I can go back to the fountain and put it in with the rest. I just grab everything before I leave to go back to the Mojave.

Well I use to do this, just like I did in Oblvion, but when I did that in NV in the trailer where Goodsprings water source is, I came back it got rest and I lost alot of stuff so I don't throw things on the ground no more.

Huh, thats odd. I've done it for a while, DM left it on the ground in front of the gate, HH left it right next to where the case appeared.

i do this too. everything stays safe, even after completing the casino proper portion. in the casino, i use the suitcases by the desk at the front door. after competing the casino, you can go back into the casino to fetch your junk. then i walk out of the sierra madre with 2000 lbs of loot.
