How much would you pay for a hardcover book of the complete

Post » Sat Aug 27, 2011 3:48 am

I've always wanted Bethesda to release a huge hardcover book that has the complete written history of the Elder Scrolls Universe, that goes in depth with all of the lore, and explains the history of all the provinces. I've read all the lore I can find in the internet, but I always seem to thirst for more Elder Scrolls lore and history.

Of course it would also be fully illustrated with all of the important people, places, and events. In all honesty, I'd be willing to pay as much or more than the retail price of a new Elder Scrolls game or more for an item such as this. What do you guys think?

As much as I would for one of my school text books I guess, at least TES books dont drop in value after 6 months when they release a new edition because they had to change a few pages around :banghead:

The history of the entire Elder Scrolls universe?
Price notwithstanding, the problem is how big would that book be? It'd be endless.

Yeah, this. Plus lore in a video game series is always going to be unstable. Every time a new game comes out, more gets added, things get changed and altered, etc, it's unstable. For example, when we look at Arena and then look at the rest of TES, it's amazing how little lore Arena has, especially considering it has all the provinces. In ten years, we might be looking back at Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim, and pointing out how little we knew then. A book would be out of date the moment a new game came out. And then, who's to write it? There's so much to take into consideration, so much is up for interpretation, and the beauty of TES lore is it is written the way real world lore is, it's written by mortals who have their own interpretation of reality and events and they could be wrong.

Regardless, if they somehow for whatever reason DID make a book like this, I'd be willing to pay however much it was.

A book? Try a whole set of encyclopedias.

For a full colour, illustrated, hardcover tome full of Elder Scrolls lore?

I'd say that would be worth $70-$80 bucks.

Edit* I'm assuming it would be a fairly large book at least 500 pages thick.

Hardcover book full of complete lore that might have illustrations? I'd give Bethesda all my money to get this! :P I love the lore of the series, especially the Dunmer and Daedric parts so I would really love to be able to just grab the book, sit down and waste an evening reading about a particular topic.
