Is there a faces and verts limit for Interior Cells?

Is there limits to number of faces and verts for an interior cell?

The Problem: Oblivion loads fine but when I try to COC to an interior cell I am modding, it often does a CTD. Usually I have to restart Oblivion 4-6 times before the COC to the cell will work. Once in the cell, the game works fine. This interior cell I am modding has 4,333,965 faces and 2,877,133 verts. Before I go trying to split this interior cell I would like to know if there is some limit to number of faces and verts that I should be aware of.

I am loading only this one Mod and Oblivion (plus Unofficial Patch fix). Starting from a New Game after leaving the Imperial Sewer Prisons and then trying COC to new mod cell. Oblivion is most current version (1.2.0416), and have tried reinstalling it in case it was the problem.

My hardware/software config is:

Windows XP 32 bit
Direct X 9.0c
Intel Core 2 Duo processor (std config NOT overclocked)
3 GB RAM
Graphics Card - ATI Radeon HD 4770 w/ 512 MB
Display Resolution 1024 x 768

I have used Oblivion with many other mods and don't have a CTD problem. Only a problem on this one mod I am working on. I have thoroughly reviewed this mod and it is clean with no dirty or unwanted references. Also this mod checks out fine in TES4Edit.

Any suggestions or ideas on what the problem might be? Do I have too many faces and verts in this cell? Thanks.

There may not be a hard cap, but there is a technical cap. IE what your hardware can handle. 4+ million faces is a hell of a lot to try and render all at once. If it were Fallout I would say use render boxes, but alas Oblivion doesn't have that.

Too many polys just slows the rendering. If you get crashes, it's much more likely to be a script or formid issue with some item or actor.
