Using constraints (hinges in particular)

Post » Wed Aug 26, 2009 11:38 am

Thanks to Edoc'Sil I learned how to make bounding boxes so you can pick up an item. Now I'm trying to learn how to make the _gnd files for say cloths and getting them to bend when they are picked up. I found a tutorial for constraints and how to do hinging but not how to put that together with something you pick up. I tried to import a clothing _gnd file & copy what they did in my mesh but when I hit preview the bounding boxes just spin down into oblivion. Any ideas or tutorials I can look at.

Thanks

Bump

Any one know of how to do this?

(Figured this might have gotten lost in the overhall.)

If you have the hinge working it's actually pretty easy. Each part of the hinge has a rigid body. You need to make item ('havok') collision for each of these rigid bodies. Finally you need to rig your mesh to the hinge bones.

I know, it seems like it should be pretty easy. One time I did get the hinge to work in Blender but I still wasn't doing something or the order right because my clothes still wouldn't bend in game. Most of the time when I hit preview the hinged boxes fall and go out of sight. Back to the drawing board. Thanks for the reply though.
