How is anyone supposed to decide whether to purchase a game we know absolutely nothing about?

This.

And the next Fallout game is an MMO set to release in 2012(so far).

And I would buy it, as long as they get rid of the horrible Havok engine. I heard they might use Rage's engine for the next Fallout...that would be the most logical.

All things being equal, you would buy it based on past history. Understand? Assuming a decent rating will you buy the next COD? The next Madden? The next Fallout? These are not games you know absolutely nothing about.

So, by your logic, you will buy a sequel to a game, even if the game before it was a giant piece of crap that was unplayable? Without getting any information on it whatsoever? So you buy games on a blind whim? Jesus, I feel sorry for you. And oh, they are games he knows nothing about. A sequel is supposed to bring new things to the table and change the formula to make the game better, not stay the same.

How stupid are you? This is a real question. I'm curious. How stupid are you? On a scale from 1 to 10, 10 being stupidest.

I never said I would buy a sequel before knowing it was a "giant piece of crap." The poll was created because I am curious to see if people will still purchase the next game in the Fallout series, whether it's MMO or whatever.

Do you know how many people pre-ordered this game, before the reviews came out based on the enjoyment of FO3? Some people actually take into account previous experience when taking future actions. This clearly is not something you can understand, but I feel obligated to write it anyway.

Would you go to a new restaurant opened by one of your favorite Chef's? Will you go see a movie with your favorite actors on opening night? Would you see Return of the Jedi because you like Empire Strikes back? The answer for anyone with any sense is yes, you would.

My point is that the Fallout series, despite being fun and have a loyal following has broken their promise of delivering a working product, and I was inquiring as to whether people will still be interested in the next game and how they will approach making a purchase.

I have no expectation that you can understand any of this. Good luck in life.

There should be an option of "Yes, but only if Bethesda stops using Havok"

The next Fallout will be Fallout Online, being developed by Interplay.

I don't know if everyone knows about the Fallout Online beta registration:

http://www.fallout-on-line.com/

Hopefully Interplay have enough money to use a different engine, which isn't based on the FO3 engine and therefore won't be as bug prone.

Personally, I want to see more use of the Euphoria engine, because the material effects and character animations are great and dynamic.

You could have giblets of enemies, and landscapes splattered in gore from your enemies, destructible environments, armour that visibly shows damage and loses pieces as you get hit, only making the harsh reality of the Fallout world even more intense and epic.

Who knows what Interplay have planned, considering they have had a large break from developing any major games. If they pour most of their resources into it, it will be the best Fallout ever and a true homage to those who played Fallout 1 and 2 religiously :).

course i will. a game as big and awesome as this is bound to have things slip through QA, as long as they fix them (like theyre doing, its sony's fault we dont have the patch yet) i got no problem with them.

EDIT: well, if the next fallout is that stupid MMO, then no i wont. but ill get the one after that

How about "Does the poor condition of FO:NV colour your opinion of Bethesda?"....

I know Obsidian were the devs, they better get their ass into gear and fix these issues.

I bought FO3 on release, no serious problems execpt the GOAT-Test.

I bought NV on release day, huge, serious problems, so i voted for
"No, I will wait to see if the game actually works, then make my decision"

i'll do just like with FO3 and NV. wait to see how glitchy it is. in these 2 cases im not giving my money to lazy devs. if FO4 or whatever isnt the mess 3 and NV are i'll get it.

Did that already so I don't have to wait for the next Fallout.

I'm not buying another Obsidian game. This is strike 4! They already messed up KOTOR2, NVN2 and now this. Alpha Protocol was pretty bug ridden as well.

yup... won't make the mistake of buying it on release day again that's for sure...

if the next chapter in the fallout series uses a different engine I'll feel a whole lot better about the stability of said game...

Why does everyone blame the Havok engine? Havok is just a physics engine that just about every game nowadays uses. If there is a problem with Havok, then it has to be it combined with bethesda's engine that runs FO:NV , FO3, and Oblivion.

Can someone explain to me how everyone started assuming its the physics engine? Any modern game you can think of more than likely uses it.....without these issues. Take a look at all he games releaed so far that use it http://www.havok.com/index.php?page=all

The website clearly states it is used just for animations and physics....

Physics engine doesn't cause quests to be broken or any other number of problems in the game.

Im a MAC guy so probably not. I doubt they'll make it for both PC and MAC. Wish they would, but I'm not holding my breath.

LOL Interplay not have enough money...you're funny [>.<] I know independent developers creating MMO's in Pitt without half the money of Interplay.

This is almost as laughable as it is ludicrous. IMO anyone who would pay Bethesda or Obsidian a monthy subscription to sit "and wait and see if it unfreezes" needs their head examined. I have been a die hard fallout fan since "WasteLand" on the c64, and I can tell you interplay's incomplete VanBuren tech preview was more playable than either of these two pieces of crap Bethesda has smeared the fallout name with, and it was incomplete.

I could go on a rant about the multiple issues that I have faced since I picked up my pre-order, but that would be wasted on deaf ears just like when Fallout3 was released. Bethesda and Obsidian made it barely playable (as long as you removed all 60 dollars worth of DLC) and rushed another to market. Way too go boys, and for the record, never come work for me. In my industry people lose their jobs for shoddy work and inadequate testing of our products before they reach the end user. Maybe your bosses should take the cue from the rest of the working world.

And for those who are interested, the fallout online page doesn't even load properly, and chops like a rusty axe when loading animations. True to form I guess.

[EDIT]
I was not aware that FO-O was interplay and not tied to bethesda or obsidian. I thought the whole franchise was sold. That sways my opinion enough that I may look at it.
