I thought of bringing my Oblivion character, Gregreo Oscarus, into Skyrim. The way I explained to myself why he's still alive after two centuries is because his father was an Altmer and his mother Imperial.
But then I wondered something. If a human (Imperial, Nord, Breton) got together with an elf (Altmer, Dunmer, Bosmer), would the child have a longer lifespan? Would it have to depend on which race the mother was?
So, he'll just have a normal human lifespan, then?
But would people talk if a mage was prolonging his own lifespan with magic?
People seem to assume that if you're living longer than normal, it must be magic and then go about there day. Look at good ol' Janus Hassildor for example. People just assume his longevity is because he's a sorcerer.
But after reading another thread about lifespans, I'm now thinking that a mixture of Imperial and Altmer might, in fact, shorten his lifespan.
Doubt it. There is speculation that Bretons, while living longer than the races of men, age faster in their waning years. So basically they turn into bags of crap.
But I don't see why that would happen to your Altmer-Imperial. He would probably look like a normal Imperial with possibly a few mer traits. He might even live a few extra years who knows.
So, he could possibly live for 106 years, but...he'd be dead for sure by Skyrim, right?
Yes, even a non-sorcerer Imperial could live to be that old, but to make it another 200+ years(Skyrim) he would need to be a master mage/sorcerer.
If the mother of your character was Altmer and the father Imperial, it would eliminate all debate about whether he could be alive during TES:V. Just throwing that out there.
