Gods help me...

Having taken on the Marksman Master Training quest, I have trekked across Cyrodiil to find an Elven Bow. Should be fairly straightforward - I'm level 19 (only Daedric weapons are out of reach), but having tracked down absolutely every weapons merchant in the province, I found nothing. So now I've cleared out every last undead dungeon in the hope of finding a Skeleton archer with Elven equipment. Still nothing. So, am I incredibly unlucky? And I wonder, short of searching every single mine, dungeon, cave, ruin and Ayleid fort in the game, what can I do?

BTW, if you don't mind me saying, this is my first post, and this forum is incredibly awesome. How I never thought to look for an Elder Scrolls forum before, I don't know. I'll be having a look around.

I just found one from a Vampire Bowman. Try Vampire and Marauder dungeons. And weapon sellers never sell anything better than steel weapons in unmodded game, if memory serves (apart from some unique weapons).

If you are on the PC open your console and type: player.additem 000229BF 1

If you are on Xbox 360/PS3, Marauders and Bandits are likely to be your best bet, they tend to have a lot of archers with them.

Oh and welcome to the forums. Ritual demands that you have a http://i460.photobucket.com/albums/qq328/PaulSouthron/Fishy%20Sticks/DarkFishyStick.jpg

Thanks, ToJKa, I never thought of Vampire/Marauder lairs. Mind you, the last thing I did before the Marksman Training was Mehrunes Razor, and I found nothing then. Hopefully I'll have better luck next time. Thanks again!

And thanks ThePillager, I am on the 360 so yeah, no shortcuts for me. I foresee a sudden decline in the number of Bandits, Vampires and Marauders in Cyrodiil...

A fishy stick? For me? You're too kind!

You're welcome, and if you're mainly fighting with bows, look for Hatred's Soul in Portals of Natural Disaster realm (if the Oblivion Gates are still open).

Yeah, I think I've found that before. I don't really tend to use enchanted bows much because I like to play very stealthy and an assassination with enchanted weaponry always seems to somehow give me a bounty when unenchanted weapons don't.

you could visit dive rock and see if the matron is "Willing" to "surrender" her bow to you, remember to bring the adoring fan though

oh, btw, it is an enchanted elven bow (with frost)

Hmm, I thought the bow had to be unenchanted for Alawen to accept it? A "normal elven bow" is how it's described in the journal. I could certainly try it.

Huh, that is certainly one way of doing things. He's outside the Arena right now; actually, that's something I need to try - whether city guards turn a blind eye to an attack on the Adoring Fan. There's only one way to find out... :toughninja:

Same with poisons, even if they are "damage health 10 pts" type, not damage-over-time type, they for some reason don't count as undetected one-hit-kills and give bounty

As mentioned marauder and bandit archers should provide better odds than finding one among skeleton archers. If no luck with them either, try goblin warlords?

Hm, odd, Mehrunes Razor, especially on higher levels (like 12 and above) is crawling with archers carrying every kind of high end non-enchanted bows... i left them lying to the left and right because everyone and his grandma seemed to have one
