Started a new character today. Its an NCR guy so i'm using guns and explosives. What would be the best level to start Honest Hearts? My characters currently level 8.

Its not really the level you start it that matters but what guns you have. So get yourself 2 or 3 powerful weapons and you shouldnt have too much trouble

I guess, all I have is a hunting rifle though. I'll probably be able to get some half decent stuff of the while legs though. They have some high powered guns.

but 4srs, Honest Hearts is easy enough for anyone whose played the game before. I did it at Level 5 with nothin but a Cowboy Repeater

The 2 guns you get from it are my favorite, the .45colt and Thompson SMG.

Not many high skill checks in the DLC. Long as you have 50 lockpick and science everything will be fine.

As for weapons. I just take a Trail Carbine+, a pile (600-800) of .44 SWC rounds and a much smaller amount (200-300) of .44 HP. The .45 SMG fills the DPS hole and the .45 pistol takes care of the pistol need. At levels 30+ the While Legs will be dropping AMRs and Brush guns in good numbers so no need to even bring such a heavy hitter.

Get , to about level 12, that will give you more perks, exp points, and should be enough to some more guns and ammo and decent armor

Honest Hearts levels with you, so it doesn't really matter what level you are as long as you have one decent weapon. For example, I did one play through where I entered honest hearts at level 35, and all of the white legs were armed with brush guns and AM rifles and had a ton of hit points, on another play through I entered Zion at level 12, and the white legs were armed with hunting rifles and mantis gauntlets and had very few hit points.
