Very strange crash to XMB occured Between Novac and boulder city. Was simply walking along the highway when the game went dark and crashed to XMB.

I've heard this before and players stated they were able to select the game again through the menu and it went right back into the game as if nothing happened. Did this happen for you also? or did it shut down the game operation completely? sound also?

I've had the game freeze with sound still working. It's almost as if we all experience these problems but sometimes in different ways.

Typically when mine freezes, the radio will keep playing whatever song it's on until the song is finished. After which, no more sound will occur. Sound similar?

It'll continue playing until I decide to get off my butt and turn off the PS3 (You can't quit the game, obviously) As I continue I might come across it. I hope I don't and our patch comes out tomorrow (U.S/Canada)

Interesting... so what you hear is ambient noise (birds, wind, etc.) and the radio? But ultimately, the graphical interface, what you're seeing is still locked up? I don't think I've ever seen it described this way. Thanks for your input. Keep us updated if you can.

Oh for sure. The Public has the right to know these things. This doesn't just happen with FALLOUT: NEW VEGAS as it also occurs with other games as well. Some are different, though. An example would be Medal of Honor Multiplayer when the game locks up but you can still hear your gun shooting along with others. Only thing that's different is it will never cut out... your gun will keep on firing until you turn off the PS3. At least New Vegas has the decency not to do what most other games tend to do.
