Should Crysis 2 be lagging if...

Post » Wed Aug 31, 2011 12:15 am

I have these system specs:

AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4MHz
ASUS Crosshair IV Formula (MB)
2x 2 GB Corsair 1333
1x WD TB Internal Drive
1x WD TB External Drive
NIVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 SC'd 1280 MB
Windows 7 Ultimate
Samsung SyncMaster 22" HDD
Razer Mamba mouse
Thermaltake 850w Black Widow PSU

I am asking because I believe I should be able to run this game on Ultra setting's without any lag but there is lag. The games looks amazing on the highest setting but lags. Also the load times are rediculous. This is the first CPU I built so I am by no means an "expert". If anyone has any input into this or advice I am open to suggestions. Thanks

boost your GPU volts using 'MSI AfterBurner'(0.05 volts), also 'shaders' in the advanced graphics settings set too high destroy performance, open the console in-game with this key ` then type r_PostMSAA = 0 then enter.
if you want a custom config i got one that makes the game smoother if you want.

@sli

Thanks for the response. I downloaded that MSI Afterburner and will check it out tonight. I'll definitely check out your custom config if you don't mind sharing. Thanks again.

replace the text in 'game.cfg' with this or test some of the settings in-game with console, r_PostMSAA = 0 has to be set in the console in-game each time the SP is loaded and in MP each time after joining a server.
open the console using this key `

Here's the config>>>

-- [Game-Configuration]
-- Attention: This file is re-generated by the system! Editing is not recommended!

r_Driver = "DX11"
r_fullscreen = 1
r_Height = 1080
r_Width = 1920
sys_highrestex = 1
sys_spec = 4
g_skipIntro = 1
r_colorgrading = 0
r_DepthOfField = 0
cl_fov = 80

r_DrawNearFoV = 80
r_HDRLevel = 12
r_HDRBrightLevel = 0.3
r_UseEdgeAA = 0
r_TexMaxAnisotropy = 0
r_PostMSAAEdgeFilterNV = 0
r_PostMSAA = 0
r_SSAO = 0
e_GI = 0
r_HDRBloomMul = 0
g_radialBlur = 0

NOTE : After tweaking set the game.cfg to 'read only', which is right click > properties.

Thanks. Gonna give it a shot. I'll post back the results. And sorry to all for the double post earlier. Don't know how that happened.

Thanks sli for everything. That worked very well. The game-play and visual look is still very much enjoyable.

That's great news, i was in MP earlier showing off my new Scar skin but i'm too tired tonight, i rage quit once due to l-tag spammage, then went in game with my weapon attachments all wrong, in the end i quit.
Lots of great players and fine games to be found out there.
I'm currently setting custom Physx config for 'Alice Madness Returns' in 3D, i dunno if i enjoy the tweaking more than the games :P
Crysis 2 was a blast to configure, pretty expensive but worth every HD DX11 penny.

I'm having a blast with the single player so far. Have not played MP yet. Might check it out sometime this week. Right now I'm trying to resolve the issue of MSI Afterburner not allowing me to change the voltage on my GPU. So I'm messing with the '.cfg' file to see whats going on. I tried the settings in MSI but it still doesn't allow me to adjust the 'slider'. Other than that I am actually enjoying the game now with the settings you provided.

check you got the latest version of afterburner cause i'm pretty sure the 570s can be tweaked voltage wise, i'm at 1.063, my directCU2 card is 1.025 stock.
maybe you need a new bios for your GPU i heard that about the 570s, google 'gtx 570 bios update' or sumptin like that.
