Just installed Fallout 3 on new Windows 7 64-bit laptop. Patched to 1.7. Added the quad core fix in Fallout.ini. Game fails a few seconds after I start a new game and then Windows pops up a dialog that the game has stopped working. Thanks for any suggestions.

I also have an NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M besides the Intel so I don't think that's the problem. It turns out that copying a copy of d3d9.dll as suggested in http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?app=forums&module=post§ion=post&do=reply_post&f=36&t=1218725&qpid=18302352 seems to have solved the problem. Well your DxDiag didnt show it so perhaps you may want to get that checked out. because if the DxDiag cant see it, who knows what else cant.

The Nvidia is listed as a system device in the dxdiag output:

Name: NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M
Device ID: PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0DF5&SUBSYS_04C41028&REV_A1\4&4DCA75F&0&0008
Driver: n/a

but not as the display adapter. I'm not sure why the Intel graphics is lsited there instead. Apparently the laptop switches to the Nvidia for demanding use and then back to Intel for less demanding applications in order to extend batterly life and reduce heat generation. So I'm not sure if there's anyway to tell dxdiag to see the Nvidia and ignore the Intel. Very intersting...
