Helmet Types

I was just wondering if anyone had heard anything about closed faced helmets. In my opinion I think Morrowind had the coolest looking armor and as far as armor goes endless ways to switch things in and out to make your character look the way you want it to. I like how the started to take out having to find like 20 different peices for your armor in Oblivion but the fact that Morrowinds armor ideas were better still stands in my opinion. The reason I started this topic, was because I was concerned about what would happen with the closed face helmets. I've always liked making my character look like a armored assassin/ninja and oblivion made it hard to do that. Of course there were closed faced helmets but some of them were with faces on them like the daedric helmet, which was kinda cool but still not what I really like. I'm talking about helmets from morrowind, like the Ebony closed helm or the Gah-Julan Bonemold helm, or the Armun-An closed helm.

To me these helmets were some of the coolest helmets ever, and could be especially awesome if they were made in better looking graphics. But again has anyone heard if there are going to be helmets like these? Closed faced helmets are BOSS and I didn't find any helmets I really cared for in oblivion because there weren't many closed faced helmets to choose from. I know it's Supposed to be a mainly nordic game, but still there are different races in the game that could have brought awesome helmets in and if I don't feel like my Character is awesome then I'm not going to have as much fun playing it.

Btw this helmet was amazing looking too, it was a mod I think, but definitely one of the best looking in my opinion.

Haha, that's really funny actually. I spend way too much time customizing every aspect of each character at creation, then cover their heads up with helmets. I never really thought about that. Anyway, I agree and liked the helmet variety better in MW. I wouldn't even wear the fur helm if I found one early on - I'd wait until I found a leather one and go without protection. But the bonemold helms from MW I especially liked. Can't wait to see what we get this time 'round.

Haha, yeah I don't really spend that much time on my character at the start, I just make him look awesome as quickly as possible, but I do spend a lot of time customizing my character throughout the game. Hopefully we hear more on the kinds of helmets we will have, because like I said, so far I've only seen open faced, which bums me out.

I've foun the helmets in all the ES games I've played to be lackluster, especially Oblivion. I mostly wore hoods so I hope they make a return I really liked their style in Oblivion. As far as helmets go if they're closed face thats perfect no doubt they'll look fly.

Yeah I know, oblivion's helmets svcked. Nothing really too great about their helmets, and I definitely agree with what you were saying about the hoods, they did look good in Oblivion, hopefully they thought about those things ha. I dunno, but for me if I can't make my character look awesome, the way I want, then the game isn't as fun as it could be.

I don't like closed-faced helmets... Oblivion just had bad-looking helms despite the open-faced nature.

Worst-looking helmets were the Daedric mask that cut off my Khajiit's muzzle, and the dwemer pressure-cooker hat.

The steel helm was awesome, though. Except... it could have had a lot more customization. I also liked the Corinthian-styled Imperial Legion helm.

Of course, I'm not against visored helms.

I'd like lots of variety in helmets, or even just head wear really. I mean what about hats for the more magey types, they don't all want the hood and cowel look but they might want some head gear.

In one of the trailers, there's some cool looking armour that looks just like the Dark Brotherhood Leather Armour in Oblivion. So, hoods are in. If you watch the demo of Todd playing, you'll also see a hood in his inventory.

I don't recall seeing too many closed-helmets in any videos or screenshots yet. I prefer hoods myself. :whistling:

I'm planning on doing some battlemage variant on my first playthrough. Like heavy armor with a hood or something.

I really hope there are some more Greek inspired helms, at least one for the legion. In OB it was kind of a mix between Roman and Corinthian.I would have used it more if it was not such a dull grey, but the design looked great.

A Shemagh style face wrap would also be cool, or maybe something like a cloth covering the nose to chin area, that can be used with the hoods.

Helmet design was pretty poor in Oblivion, I think I mostly ended up wearing the conical guard helm since the iron and steel versions looked goofy. I'm really hoping that we can get a simple mail coif (chainmail hood) this time around, a few conical helms with nose guards, and most importantly a classic viking helm with 'goggles' (known as the Gjermundbu helmet).

We should be presented with the option to wear more knightly armour as well. Being set in Skyrim doesn't mean we should be entirely pushed towards Nord designs. In that respect, visored helms would be fantastic to see and a Knight of the Nine 'bucket' helm, this time without any adornments, would be neat.

The only decent (not including mods) helm I found in Oblivion was the Daedric helm and even that wasn't too appealing. Helms just don't seem to be a strong point in the TES series imho. I just wish there was a "show helm" option we could uncheck, after all, most of us spend a significant amount of time customizing our characters face and covering it up can be a little disheartening.

I usually go without helmets anyways. :P

The only sort of hat I'll probably use is a hood for my thiefsassin.

Though if the helmets look better, then I might use them.

I prefer closed helmets, if only because i always had the mental image of taking an arrow in the face. Also, it feels too hollywood when nobody is wearing a closed helmet...i know what my character looks like, i don't need to be reminded.
