best - worst?

Post » Sat Sep 03, 2011 12:55 pm

I'm sure this has been asked but I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for.I like to do the worst first and get it out of the way and save the best for last.I am currently level 30.Should I do some or all of the dlc now before I finish the main game?Which is the worst and which is the best or is there a certain order they should be done?Thanks in advance.

Play Honest Hearts first and play Dead Money before you play Old World Blues, for story reasons. Personally, I think Dead Money and Old World Blues are the best Fallout DLC's ever and you should have a good time playing them :fallout:

Before the [censored]load of opinions hit this thread let me just say all three are worth playing. Get the majority of your skills above 80 and hit it. Following the release order presents the story arc better, though Honest Hearts is a bit irrelevant on that matter. So Dead Money-Old World Blues should be good, with Honest Hearts whenever you want.

"Should I do some or all of the dlc now before I finish the main game?"

On a technical point, you can't do ANYTHING after you finish the main quest line (unless you reload to an earlier save, of course)!

First to do is Dead Money. Because the XP rewards do not seem to scale to your level and you can't bring any other non-quest DLC, or Mojave for that matter, items with you.

The holorifle with all upgrades will save your butt over and over in the other DLCs, even with a modest (50-80) EW skill. Get the holorifle with all mods installed, a few thousand max charge MFCs and you just won FO:NV.

I never cared for Dead Money, so I usually play it first to get it out of the way. And I usually try to get through it as quickly as I can. And that gets easier with each time I play it, because I remember better and better where all the obstacles are, making them easier and easier to overcome.

OK, if you never played any of the DLCs I would go in order of difficulty:

HH -> OWB -> DM

It should matter a little less since you are level 30 and can probably go in any order but that's my suggestion.

I like all the DLCs

If I had to pick a "worst" would be Dead Money because it annoyed the hell out of during my first play through.

Best would be OWB.

I'd do DM before OWB for story reasons but thats about all the advice I can give I liked all of them and at level 30 having your equipment stripped in DM shouldn't be much of an issues, I like doing DM first for the rewards their helpful in the other dlc since you can bring stuff into those but after that I just kinda pick one.

Storywise definitely do DM before OWB. HH for a lot of folks is the weakest so getting it out of the way would leave you open to getting through DM and OWB lined up well. DM isn't too hard on your current level, that's when I played it personally and only struggled at a few parts here and there. I personally played them on release so I'll probably continue doing it that way on future playthroughs for pacing and roleplaying reasons (so DM->HH->OWB), but difficulty-wise OWB can be pretty brutal if you go into it at level 40 (I died quite a few times). HH isn't so bad difficulty-wise, I personally think the Yao Gaui can be a bit tough when they travel in packs but that's the most difficult part of it for me.
