Need help..getting really annoyed by will o wisps.

Ok on my last character I just blasted em away in sneak mode was no problem at all.
My current character a Breton Warrior has to literally run away from them! He's level 12 with 100 strenght and high blunt 76. Well this character explores whatever he comes across, if he discovers anything he explores it, because on previous playthroughs I've discovered so many locations I never remember which ones I've been too, so I made it our mission to explore everything we discover, so far so good, but now I've had to leave 3 caves in a row half unexplored because I can't kill em. My endurance is 90.
The thing is he doesn't use sneak, alchemy, conjurarion or destruction, only restoration. No access to university yet and all good weapons I found I sold. I've literally played the whole game so far with a steel shield and a rusty iron war axe & rusty iron shortsword, occasionally in sticky situations I've had to use chillrend and been breezing through nicely with nice long battles against my enemies to help me boost my skills for the necessary attributes at level up. So now these things have really pissed on my parade, I didn't want to start using sneak and bow yet, even if I did it would take a while ( marksman 5 ). The only thing I can think off is either lowering difficulty which I've never done or do all mages recommendations to gain access to the university.
Was loving this play through so far even whilst efficient leveling as using the low end weapons balanced it out nicely and made every battle epic, but now I'm just annoyed. Any ideas? I didn't want to start alchemy yet either, I've been focusing all my skills on strength, endurance and speed.

Edit: It's just annoyed me because the Roleplay on Antonius is that he's a Warrior Powerhouse, literally unstoppable, but now we find ourselfs running away from some stupid shiny lights and my attributes are just being battered by these things, lol I've seen posts about will o wisps before and though nothing of em as my bosmer would kill them instantly

The only thing that comes to mind, given your limitations on magic and no ranged combat, is to use Absorb Health back on them. That's the magic effect they're using on you, so it would be a tug-of-war at best.

They're completely immune to your non-enchanted weapons, so there's no point in even waving them. It looks like your Warrior Powerhouse "Superman" has discovered his "Kryptonite."

Yeah will-o-the-wisps are really strong for their level. They appear at lvl 11 but are actually a lot tougher than many enemies that spawn after that. Without magic it is pretty hard to deal with them, but since you are level 12 you should have no problem finding a silver weapon in a bandit or marauder dungeon. Theres also the option of using magic scrolls. Lucky for you the attributes they damage are of little use to a pure warrior.

If that fails you could just avoid monster dungeons and stick to looting other places.

I've been using a two hand silver hammer I found that does 14 damage but as soon as I start hurting it's health, just as you say glargg they take mine and replenish themselves, the absorb health weapon would be great, that is actually what I was aiming to get, just not yet, sigil stones are out of the question as the MQ is untouchable to him at this time, it looks like I'll have to gain access to the uni, I didn't want to just yet as he's only reached chorrol and IC, he's not even made it to anywhere else yet as their has been too much to explore along the roads to the other cities, so it's completely messing my rp too *sadface

Edit: @ jango, thanks for the comment and yes you're right the attributes aren't that important but I really want to do as I said and explore everything we find, as I said I've found them in the last 3 caves I've been in so avoiding them would mean not exploring a lot of caves and thats a no no.

Yeah, one of my "warrior types" eventually settled on a plain Silver Claymore as a main weapon. Worked fine.

Edit: You can buy several strengths of Absorb Health on Touch. In combination with a silver weapon, it might be enough.

Not a bad shout the extra reach of a claymore would certainly help out and maybe just give me the edge, just gotta find one now.

This, Absorb health still counts as restoration :D

The Wizards Fury spell works wonders on these ghastly beasties (or any high level fire spell) :flamethrower:

Heh, your guy has enough restrictions that you may just have to bypass wills. The best thing he has going for him is his Breton 50% magic resist. Those wills would literally be twice as dangerous to him with out that resistance. If his magic resist and a silver war hammer won't give you the win, then it's come back later or squeak the difficulty slider down for those fights - neither option appeals to you I know.

If you go at them as a warrior with high health, you're only going to be smacking against a brick wall.

I had an orc warrior, decked with the best gear for his level, go up against three will-o-the-wisps, and that was the only time I've ever had to flee on any character. I've fought 5 ogres on the same character, at the same level, but the wisps just drained back any health they lost. You need some sort of magic resistance spell, or an absorb health spell, and just blow through them as fast as possible. If you take to long, they'll just get any health they lose right back.
