This 4 player podcast, the thing you have to know about them is that they play a LOT of games, and so they've seen the best and the worst. I know Brad (main person talking) LOVES morrowind and he played a lot of Oblivion too, but was a Morrowind really devoted fan so he was disapointed by a few things. The fact that his overall impression was positive is what matters.

He said samey.

Lol and we love them for it.

There's nothing "samey" about Markarth.

I agree, based on what we've seen. However, this guy has seen more.

I think he expected it to have giant mushrooms and purple skies for some reason. They already said it wouldn't look like Morrowind...

Well I don't agree with him either but that's what he said.

Problem is we don't know how much he saw. A couple of those Cities he could have just entered and not really walked around its entirety. The Dunmer Thief screens has him in one city, then we have a screen of Whiterun which looks awesome, Markarth is nothing like those others I mentioned, and the trailer shows that place with the big overarching rock structure. All are very distinct.

Not in Britain it isn't. Never heard of samey :(

Im from the UK, and i have heared of the word 'samey'... =P
Apart from that, the guy didnt really sound like he knew much about TES, and seems like the FPS type. But i agree we shouldnt get overly hyped~

And he didn't really say he went to all of them anyway.

So he said the cities looked "samey". Big deal. He is but one man giving us but one man's opinion and what looks "samey" to him may not look samey to you.

He also asked the other guy if they had used dragon shouts, and claimed to have used one on accident, thing is, dragon shouts are turned off for these guys.

This "idiot" has no clue whats going on and needs to be quiet.

Agreed, I think he may have just used the carriage to get between them, the ft point is probably out side the main walls and he just looked at the city from there then got straight back on the carriage, this or some may have been locked as stated in a different playthrough, so he couldn't enter. Beth said they wanted it to have a Nordic feel so if all the architecture is samey at a glance but as intricate as it looks in the screens I think they will have done a good job, I think the cool locations will do alot for the towns.

On another note I'd say it was a spectral mountainlion. It's likly Beth has done spectral versions of all the appropriate creatures since they have the originals to convert, it be kinda boring if there is only one type of spectral summons.
Unless that's what summoning nirnian creatures looks like and only summoned deadra appear in the flesh now?!

So, one thing I noticed -- two, actually:

1.) This guy's opinion means little to me. He mentions that Skyrim is like Oblivion with snow. But then he mentions that Skyrim has a compass that shows you nearby location types, and he wasn't sure if they did that in Oblivion. Translation: this guy never really played Oblivion. He's just another Morrowind groupie that wants Bethesda to make Morrowind 2. That part, to me, collapsed his entire opinion (although he did say some cool things as well). I doubt he could've thoroughly searched all five major cities in his demo time. Not cool to call them "samey" when you've played for 30 minutes.

And 2.) He touches his face and nose a lot when he's nervous in front of a camera. Act like you've done this before, big guy, and we'll take you seriously next time.

I don't know why, but I keep forgetting how harsh people are on the internet. I didn't think he was all that bad, sure he definitely didn't seem like he had played Oblivion for a few years, but just because you guys didn't like what he was saying, you don't need to go all devoted fan and start attacking him, the game is going to be great, don't let a reporter's opinion invoke fear for the quality of the game. And remember, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0la5DBtOVNI

He might just be talking about the buildings, I would imagine Nord architecture would be "samey" throughout their province as Dunmer architecture was in Morrowind.

And yeah as others have mentioned chill out, its just one guys opinion.

No, it wasn't. Telvanni, Redoran, Hlaalu, and Velothi styles were all very, very different.

Fair enough I seem to remember a lot of towns in the same areas all looking the same though, and regardless of styles there will be recurring themes. Haven't played morrowind in a long time, but that's what I meant. Not that it even matters come to think of it.
