Skyrim money

Have the devs mentioned anything about making money something that you need, because by the end of oblivion or morrowind, your just swimming in thousands/millions of gold, is there any news on this.

They've never mentioned money, but they certainly need a overhaul. We need more moneysinks instead of swimming in gold. Just no.. satisfaction... :cryvaultboy:
We should be happy with the amount of money we have in Skyrim, not "meh" because you can't do anything with it.

Will we still be using Septims, even with the rebellion?

Or does Skyrim have its own native currency.

I used to make Cure disease potions from the Sheperds pies i got from my Maid in skingrad. Just spamclick "May i have a pie" or so. Get like 500 pies, make cures. Sell, rinse repeat :P

well.. youd assume that the rebels would use a different currency... just to be rebellious... but this would be difficult gameplay wise so i doubt it... although didnt NV have something like that?

Yeah, both of my Oblivion characters have 5 digits of cash in the bank..... It kinda svcks how vendors only sell up to silver level gear.... aside from that, what is there? Just going around and buying houses for the hell of it? Is not like you really need to pay for NPCs to repair/recharge your gear.

After awhile, I feel like I NEEDED to spend my cash: I did whatever it took to get rid of it......and thats why I killed every single person in 5 of the cities, house by house, and before I realized how carried away I got i had already racked up a 350,000 gold bounty! =D

I definitely agree with this. It would be nice to have things to spend money on. They took out spellmaking, which could take quite a chunk of change. In the end though, this may once again require mods to either: A) reduce the amount of money coming in; or B ) increase the number of things (or cost of things) to spend money on.

I never did any money cheats (no point in TES games of late), and I had it coming out of my ears. But, I also sold pretty much everything I looted, did tons of quests, and explored an awful lot.

I want to earn my gold legitimately this time. Getting over 20 million gold from that dead Redguard was satisfying, but it's more depressing when you realise there's nothing to spend it on. Duping hundreds of health potions and hotkeying them to your d-pad makes for a pretty invulnerable character. Not to mention Oblivion didn't have a lot of unique armours and weapons, so there was never anything actually worth buying after you had been playing for at least 30 hours. I think I ruined some of my experiences now that I think about it :sadvaultboy:

The farther you progress in the game, the more valuable the loot you bring in. Since the costs of adventuring don't really scale there comes a point in any game where you start rapidly gaining wealth. The longer you play after that point, the bigger the bank account.

The only way they can mitigate this is by (1) making scaling money sinks (which don't break immersion) or (2) provide truly ridiculously expensive items to buy. Both are easier said than done.

Ya they haven't really talked about skyrim's economy in dept in for some reason but something tells me that there is a reason for that, like they need to greatly inprove it or soemthing. As for what is going to be used as money then we'll just have to wait to find out but think it would be cool to have a few septim coins around skyrim that you can sell. ^_^

That's strange I have over five million gold and I made that from selling alchemy potions from ingredients I picked and from selling loot. I also agree with money sinking mentioned above something that makes you spend more.
