What are the safe places to store my loot?

What are the safe places to store my loot? It has been ages since I have played, and I played alot of Fallout 3 and New Vegas, and I know they are different from each game as well. All I remember that in Oblivion, I just threw everything on the floor, since placing them in some containers they respawned and you lost everything.

I know some house, I believe Battlehorn Castle, and maybe a few others some of the containers in their are not safe at all either.

So I am asking, what is safe to place or loot and not worry about loosing them to respawns. I am on the 360 if that makes a differents, but I don't think it does.

Uh, not "most chests." Most of the chests in the game reset after three days.

To test for safety: Just put an arrow (or some other object of little value) in the container, and leave the area. Stay away for four game days (three is technically enough, but four to make sure.) If the item is still there, the container is safe, unless it is subsequently reset by a script or mod.

The best bets are the chests and cabinets in player-character houses, the open-top "grain" sacks which are found in various places, and clam shells.

I meant non-dungeon chests and chests like in high ruler temple and houses you won and a couple of guild chests.
