I don't have enough magicka

Post » Tue Sep 06, 2011 1:33 am

I'm still on my first playthrough(the mq has been finished though), and right now i'm busy with the Mages guild and their quests. I just received a new spell from Raminus Polus called Wizard's Fury, however it says i don't have enough magicka. It doesn't however say how much i need. When i go to my skills screen it says i only have 55 at intelligence and 43 at Willpower, no doubt this is where the problem lies but how high do these skills need to be before i can use a spell like that? I got more spells where it says i don't have enough magicka...i'm stuck on this.

Your total magicka = your inteligence x 2 plus any racial/birthsign bonuses plus any fortify magicka items you have equipped. Increasing your intelligence and adding fortify magicka items will increase your magicka supply.

Endurance(edit fix) Willpower increases the rate at which your magicka regenerates itself, but does not increase the total magicka you have.

The cost to cast a spell goes down dramatically as your skill in the school that governs the spell goes up. Wizards Fury is a destruction spell, so its cost will go down as your destruction skill goes up.

Thanks man, it was kinda confusing for me cause this is really new, the magic system. Mostly been used staffs for magic, and sword, bow&arrow. Getting my destruction skill up can be done by using those spellsand also by training it, right?

Sure, just cast the basic Flare spell at your enemies while you're fighting them. It won't do much damage, but every "hit" from any destruction spell counts the same in raising the skill.

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Magicka Although at low levels http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Willpower#Intelligence_vs_Willpower has a larger effect on magicka regeneration then Willpower does.

Gosh, you're right of course. Dunno what I was thinkin'. Thanks for catching me so I could fix it. :icecream:

I agree. The more magic you have, the faster it regens. Willpower helps the regen along. Sort of like Diablo II where regen was heavily influenced by the actual amount of blue you had.

This is a key point. A spell at skill level 100 will cost about 1/5 as much as if your skill level is 30.

So if a spell costs 200 at sill level 30 it will only cost abut 40 magicka at skill level 100.

(BTW, the cost in gold of buying the spell also goes down)
