Quests for mage guild members

When I do a "talk" on the mage guild members, sometimes they ask me to do a quest for them. Does this count as reputation points for the region?

Talk is the way you obtain quests from mages. Your reputation will also determine what kind of quests you get from the mages guild.

If you complete the quest you'll get 5 reputation points for the mages guild and the merc mages. I think you get a couple reputation points for associated factions too.

Well, when I go to the quest giver, I have an option to "get quest" or "talk". What I'm talking about is like the person you buy the spells from. I have the option the talk to that person. Most of the time, I just get the screen where I can ask about places and people. But sometimes, a quest will pop up when I talk to someone. Like I went to the quest guy today and clicked "Talk" instead of "Get Quest". He asked me to escort him to a different town. I wondered if that quest gave me region reputation points or mage quild points. I'm trying to raise my reputation in the region.

These "talk" quests are Merchant/Innkeeper quests, but your reputation gain/loss would be the same as if it were a mage guild quest.

For ways to raise your regional reputation see: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:Reputation#Reputation_Titles

Thanks. I did see that on the Wiki. I understand how to raise reputation with a faction like the Mage's guild, fighter's guild, etc. It's still a little unclear to me how I can raise my reputation with a region. Am I destined to always be "common" in a region? So if I do a merchant quest for like someone in an inn or the local weapon smith, do those count for the region? Or is the only way to raise rep in a region is to do quests for the royals?

If you've read that Wiki page then you probably know as much as I do. I don't ever remember having a regional reputation better than "common" which I admit I don't understand. For example: According to Wiki doing Morgiahs Wedding quest should raise your Wayrest reputation by 10 points. But after doing that quest I'm still "common" in Wayrest. Don't know why ........???
