Morrowind was my first game...

I had played other video games before Morrowind, namely super mario and smash bros., but nothing really on the same scale, so when I first put in Morrowind, I had no idea what to expect. I thought I was going to get Legend of Zelda, where you knew where to go, and how to do it, and you were not required to level up or think, but man, when I was released in Seyda Neen, my mind was blown.
I really could do anything I wanted. And then I turned the corner, saw a Silt Strider, and turned off the game because I was terrified. I was only ten at the time. Wow, this game really has been my childhood and adolescence, and it became a part of me.
How was your first experience, and how did it effect you?

My first experience with TES was Morrowind. After I created my character and left the Tax and Excise office, well, I was completely
enthralled.

I've been here every since. It's the best. :tes:

I was so lost the first time that I left the Census and Excise office that I just left the game. After a few months of boring action games, I reloaded and went to the first cave across the silt strider port and got creamed by that mage inside. Then, I uninstalled the game from my computer. I had never played a game so difficult before (of course then I played Gothic which is brutal for a new character). It took me a year before I played Morrowind again and I'm a little sad it took so long for me to love this amazing game.

I imagine the way I came to play Morrowind is alot like the way others have come to play. I started out ok, then I got killed in an instant. Turned the game off. Then realized how could I live without this and havn't turned off my xbox in 9 years.

Seriously though, if I still had my xbox I would go an start up a new game right now.

Morrowind was the first game I bought when I got an Xbox as a kid. I've been addicted to TES since I was eleven. I remember how completely blown away I was, I don't think I bought another game for at least a year; there was just no need.

I was never really into games. We bought the kids an NES console in '86, or so, and I got into Castlevania. It was fun, but I lost interest quickly. Time goes on...
I bought my first real computer in 1999, or so...to do music composition...my son was playing games like Diablo, and Balder's Gate...no interest here. They seemed weird because of the Isometric 3rd person view.
In 2002, my son bought Morrowind, and I watched him play for a while, and realized it was 3D, and you could go anyplace you wanted, and do what you wanted! That made sense to me.

I was well into my early 40's....I tried it and was amazed, and I never got tired of looking at the game. I played, and played, and played...my son doesn't play Morrowind much these days. I'm still playing.
I have played every race in the game, but usually do a custom class based on the Role Playing I want to do with a specific character.
I only play Bethesda games. Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3 & NV....and looking forward to Skyrim. I couldn't care less about other game studios.
Morrowind is my favorite game of all time; you could say it was the first game I really, really enjoyed...
I'll be playing this game for years.

I LIVE in Vvardenfell, and visit the Imperial City, and the Fallout world...and will probably like Skyrim a whole lot also...but Morrowind will likely remain my favorite.

I was now just thinking of my first experience with Morrowind...it wasn't my *very* first game (although it was my very first RPG and also my first TES), but it was the first game I was TOTALLY hooked to it, to the point that it was like "Turn on PC - Play MW - Turn off PC" for more than a month. No seeing webpages, no checking the e-mail...nothing. I switched on the PC exclusively to play it. I never was so hooked into any game (not even Oblivion, although I confess I was similarly hooked to Mass Effect 1), and I doubt I'll ever be (although we'll see how Skyrim and ME3 are...).
