Combat style

I'm not sure if this has been covered in another thread, I tried looking, but had no results.

With the lack of any Online Multi-player (not complaining mind you...), none of us can see what other peoples combat styles are. How do they carry their character in the heat of battle?

Since I mostly play the Assassin types, I like to use a bow and snipe from a distance until all that remains is a steaming pile of fail where my enemy used to stand. Failing that (or if I'm just close enough or didn't notice my enemy until it is almost too late), I try to get in close for a one-hit Sneak Attack. When pressed into an actual stand-up fight, if I am over matched or outnumbered I typically run until I can either find a place to hide, or I can get enough distance to resume my sniping. I'll do a stand up fight, but only when there are 2-3 at maximum enemies attacking me. Anything over that and I would have built a Warrior character.

But what is you style to conduct combat, Community? What are your preferred situations, how do you handle the different situations of combat when your character gets feisty with someone else?

I use pretty much the exact same tatics as you. Although I'm backed up by some magic, also.

I favor all-in styles. Little defense or recovery. Armor is silly; an assassin could kill me in my sleep anyways, so don't bother.

Maybe that was silly. What I prefer is a mix of frontline combat and conjuration. There's something pretty about clobbering someone with a Charm of Instant Weapon, or having a spectral wolf pop out of nowhere, but maybe I've been reading too much JJBA. Otherwise, my thieves tend to be nightblades. Illusion to hide, alchemy to poison, dagger for the rest.

My character is slightly averse to bashing in skulls and rending flesh.

So she lets her animal familiar (it will have to be a dog... until I buy a new PC) tank whilst providing copious amounts of restoration and divine magic :)

No armour, it's too heavy! And if she must get her hands 'dirty', she'll use an emergency potion (to give herself god-level strength!), or a debilitating poison (to rend thy enemies useless!).

At other times she may choose to attack alone, like when her animal familiar is visiting friends :). On these occasions she'll use all the divine shielding she can get from the likes of Dibella and co., plus copious amounts of magical shielding/restoration, and a small blade enchanted with divine fury.

Alchemy, Restoration, Alteration, Illusion, One-handed (daggers), Sneak, and one other major skill (probably Enchanting!). :cake:

My combat style is illusion.
I fury, terrify, command, and/or calm my enimies. All the while I'm radomly disappearing and reappearing to further confuse my foe(s).

On occasion I'll throw my daedric pet it the mix; if I'm filling frisky, I'll jump in myself with some bound daggers.

Illusion is always a fun style. Tasteful choice!

I don't pick fights I don't think I can handle. I use stealth to give myself an edge over the apponent, and I attack where an attack would be least expected....
