Who has a game above TES?

Post » Thu Sep 08, 2011 6:00 pm

Oblivion is definitely one of my all time favorite games (I'm still getting into Morrowind when I have the time, but I'm already loving it), and TES games in general because what I love about them is how they engross me even outside the gameworld. The Lore and community for TES is beyond phenomenal, I find myself thinking about the stories that aren't even a part of the games all the time. But there are other games that will forever be a part of my heart and soul, several Star Wars games, (another fictional universe I'm positively infatuated with) particularly the Jedi Knight games, KOTOR, and Battlefronts I and II (I'd be just as hyped to a next installment for any of these games (that is well done) as I am for Skyrim. Probably) and of course I was brought into the world of Consoles by Halo, yet another story/fictional world I love. (You can kind of see a trend as to what draws me to the games I favor). Games like COD and whatnot are great and all, I love the competitive aspect to them, but I never touch the campaigns. They just don't have the great stories that really play my heartstrings with the melodious choruses of heaven.

Edit: I suppose I should add Runescape to that list even though it's been a year or two since I really played it, it's kind of my guilty pleasure, and I go back every now and then when I'm bored. While I've put in hundreds of hours into TES, I've put in over 100 days into Runescape. As in bordering 3000 hours. (yes, three-thousand)

So TES for me is kinda meh, not that special really.
I only know of it cause of Fallout anyway.

This is gonna come off as me being a dike, but your post begs the question, why are you even posting here if that's the case?

Fallout, Fallout 2, Hell even New Vegas. Duke Nukem 3D.

TES is an amazing series, and they're the best at what they do. But they're not the end all of video games. TES is one of my favourites though.

EDIT: And Wasteland, and Mortal Kombat II. There's so many games that have been released of the last few decades where video games have existed, even being remembered is a big deal for a game more than a few years old.

Street Fighter 2.

Because while Morrowind was horrible and Oblivion was okay I think Skyrim looks much better and might actually be a great game.
And since Bethesda is a one time wonder they're likely going to shove a bunch of their TES crap into Fallout 4 and I want to see what that might be so I can speculate and rant about it.

For me it's a tie based not on the content of the game but the experience I had with it. When I was in primary school Ocarina of Time hit at exactly the right time for me. Me and my brothers spent months in front of the tv passing the controller on every 20mins. To this day it's my fondestly remembered game.
Oblivion hit at exactly the worst time for me. I was out of high school , had no job and was doing voluntary work. Out of pity another volunteer handed a iso of a game I had never heard...Oblivion. Taking it home I found I could not play it as my graphics card lacked shader 2 support. After 2 weeks found old oblivion allowing me to play the game but only able to see a few feet into the distance. It is a testament to oblivions awesomeness that i still consider it a tie with ocarina of time
( just so you know I have since purchased oblivion 3 times and fallout 3 twice. This is also my first post)

1. Planescape: Torment
2. Fallout 2 (coupled with Fallout 1)
3. System Shock 2
4. Deus Ex
5. Age of Empires II

Although, I consider the last two iterations of TES to be fairly decent games I feel that Skyrim is shaping up to be a much better game than its predecessors. In addition to that, I find the basic premise of TES to be quite interesting.

computer games theres a few I rank equally with MW but they are all strategy so its hard to make a direct comparision
Still Civilisation, Crusader Kings, Europa Universalis, Colonisation, SMAC and King of Dragon Pass are all up their with it
Non-computer lots - Runequest, Pendragon, Call of Cthulhu for starters

TES is the unmatched no. 1 for me :tes:

But the following runners-up are also very high up there:

Serious Sam,
Worms,
Mass Effect,
Front Mission,
Heroes of Might and Magic
Alien Soldier (yup, I was a gamer for THAT long ;) )

EDIT: oh and, I don't know if this counts, but also digital versions of trading card games, namely Magic and Yu-Gi-Oh.

1. Elite Frontier II (size, realism and immersion).
2. OFP1/Arma series (realism and immersion)
3. Daggerfall (size, "realism" and immersion)
4. Flight Simulator (size, realism, not so much immersion)
5. Oblivion (only immersion).
6. Morrowind (didn't really have either for me, but still on the list).

-The Legend of zelda games for n64 (nostalgia hard)
-half life 2/doom 3 (favorite single player shooter)
-counter strike (favorite fps multiplayer)
-Morrowind (favorite open world game)
-Starcraft (favorite rts)

These are my all time favorites. There are other games i really like a lot but when someone asks me what my favorite game is these ones pop into my head all at once.

LMAO! For me Morrowind is the only game in this series that is above any other game I've ever played.
