Can't even load my game.

So I got on New Vegas tonight, downloaded the patch and thought it was gonna be nice and run a bit more smoothly. But now I can't even load my game. It'll get to the loading screen with the roulette wheel and just freeze my PS3. I've tried deleting the game utility data, signing out of PSN and reinstalling the game without the patch, but it still freezes up. Never ran into this before tonight, besides a few random freezes here and there. Not quite sure what to do, my friend is telling me to delete the utility data and my save games, but I really don't want to delete my saves if I don't have to. Any idea if/when Bethesda is going to release a patch that is going to fix all the random freezing and all that jazz?

Edit: I forgot that you could backup your saves onto a flashdrive. I'm gonna do that and see if deleting all of the data from NV does anything.
