Help with my roleplay.

Post » Fri Sep 09, 2011 7:28 am

So, Skyrim will be an incredible adventure for me, I know it.
I've been following the series since Morrowind and now in Skeyrim I want to jump in a more serious roleplay. But before I can define the background of my character I need to know some things that I still don't know.

1-I'll be playing as a dunmer spellsword, but I need to know: what is their lifespan? Are they the kind of elves that live for 200 years and are young and beautiful yet or they age just like humans?
2-I don't read the book but I know that Vvanderfell was consumed in lava and the argonians took Morrowind (filthy beasts). I wan't to know in what year this happened approximately and what where the escape routes for the native dunmer.
3-What is the dunmer take on nords? I heard they have a big hate for eachother.

Well, for now I think that's all. If any more question arise I will edit the post.
If there is any error, english isn't my main language, so don't take it too hard.

If they are powerful wizards, they can live thousands of years.

About 160 years before Skyrim's events.

They have been fighting for practically ever. They were at war when the Oblivion crisis took place.

You will learn all these things in-game when you get rollin', and it will probably be more fun for you to discover these things that way instead of reading glib answers on a forum board.

Also, google and wiki's are your friend.

1-as far as i've heard, the dumner lifespan is hundreds of years. for some reason i want to say either 2-300 or 6-800.
2-i don't think the lore goes this indepth, i could be wrong.
3- I don't know how the Dunmer feel about the nords, but i do know that there has been a huge campaign by some Nords in Skyrim to purge the land of all mer, so I'd assume they have some sort of negative feelings for them. I'm not sure how, or if this campaign has ended by the time tes5 comes about.

Since Dunmer are decendants of the Altmer, id assume they have the same life span which is around 1000+years~ Unless Azura cut their lifespan after she cursed them~

1. We know the Dunmer have extended lifespans but we don't really know just how long. Some Dunmer (Divayth Fir) are known to be a few thousand years old while others are unknown but assumed far younger. This is one of the loose ends Bethesda has had to repair for awhile as many aspects of their lore are unknown or merely absurd (read absurd as Akavir).
2. We, again, do not know what year exactly Vvardenfell was consumed by lava but we know it was within the first 40 or so years of the 4th Era.
3. It depends where you go for Nords, at least that's what I've gathered. Winterhold supposedly has received a great influx of Dunmer and has been brought to a cultural and magical renaissance because they were so open to the immigration. In other words, no one can really give you a broad statement about Nord-Dunmer relations because you can't make a statement about the entire race groups.

So by knowing they are the kind of elves that live hundreds of years, I can set his age to maybe before the fall of Morrowind.
And the other things I think I will have to learn in the game.
Thanks people.

The second from the last question is on Dunmer life spans.
