High Hrothgar and Skyrim civil war

Post » Sat Sep 10, 2011 3:43 am

Hrothgar broke down in two pieces after the assassination of the king of Skyrim and the beginning of the civil war.
Is it true?
I can't recall where I read this... maybe it's just something that I made up while sleeping, since I can't find anything about this fact.

If it's true, are there going to be some consequences?
Hrothgar is one of the towers, I know that Martin sealed oblivion with is sacrifice, but towers weren't also built to preserve Mundus existance?
Now that 4 of the towers are gone (red mountain, numidium (was it really a tower?), white gold tower, hrothgar (maybe)) the power that prevented Mundus to fall in the anu/padomay state must be really weakened, maybe Akatosh/Alduin arrival as something to do with this.
Probably you've already discussed all off this, but i couldn't find anything with the search function.

Please be gentle, I'm kinda new to in-depth TES lore :P

I have not seen anything about Hrothgar being split into pieces. Although, I can see how it might be in pieces after Alduins visit.

I don't recall anything about it being split in too either, to my knowledge there is 7000 steps up it in game, and theres 7000 steps up it in lore

My point was if it had 7000 steps, and it still has 7000 steps, and we know during the game that takes place after the high king of Skyrim has been assassinated that you have to climb those 7000 steps, then it can't have been split in two or we'd be climbing 3500 steps

Sorry, but you are mistaken. What will happen with High Hrothgar remains to be seen, in TES V: Skyrim, most likely, but maybe we will catch a glimpse in Lord of Souls.

IIRC it wasn't the whole mountain tho be split in two, it was only the place where greybeards live.
I need to find where the hell I read that thing...

edit: found it! it was in the GI hub update about Alduin's wall

read the top-left hotspot
edit: I mean.. top-right

IDK, isn't the alduin wall a foresighting thing? so maybe the mountain is really going to be "cleft in two" during the main quest

Its symbolism for the civil-war in Skyrim, as High Hrothgar is the most honored/ancient landmark in their history.

yeah, you're right, I din't remember it was just a symbolism on the wall.

the chance that hrothgar is really going to split-up are really low but... if you look at the wall there are no other symbolism-thing: everything engraved on it mirrors the reality w/o as is.

I think thats a natural part of the landscape, I dont think it has anything to do with and external force or a tower breaking. Sure it symbolises whats happening at the moment, I'm betting that it always looked like that

I have a feeling that something will happen to Hrothgar, but as to what I can't say. Snow-Throat is a Tower and if Skyrim follows suit with Morrowind and Oblivion it will be deactivated in the final battle of the MQ, even though victory may be at hand.

So, it is possible that it will split in some way.

Deactivated sure, but remember White Gold Tower is still standing, it didn't collapse.

I know, but I think its more than a coincidence that these Towers are the locations for these epic events.

exactly what I think.
We already witnessed the deactivation of two/three tower, maybe this time we will see the destruction of one.

of course, to deactivate a tower I think you can "destroy" the stone or destroy the tower itself.

about my other question... what could happen to the Mundus after the destruction/deactivtion of so many towers?

As far as I understand it, the world would be reverted back to pre-convention, The Dawn Era, if I'm not mistaken. I have been wondering about the Towers for a while now and have not been able to come to any conclusion at all. After I read Lord of Souls and complete Skyrim in full, I will attempt to study the Towers further.
