BSOD with new Setup

Post » Sun Sep 11, 2011 12:57 am

Last night i suffered my first BSOD after more than a year of OCing.
i never update windows, i wasn't using a page file, and my system was OCed quite a bit.
I'm now re-installing windows.
So should i start using windows update?, i heard it's a good idea if you have a modern(SandyBridge) setup.
I've updated the bios to latest version too.
even when i loostened RAM and set things up to stock i was getting problems so i've zeroed my drive and now windows is about finished installing.
It was while watching a 2D to 3D converted film, i had been in Crysis 2 MP for hours without problem.

Thanks man, i've installed an optional windows update for my HDD, i'll see how it goes from here, i believe my HDD got corrupted, probably cause i had page file disabled, will check out the new bios and OC with more care now.

Get a software program called macrium reflect and use it to do a backup after you have re-installed and set the PC up with all drivers, updates and programs you want.
If/when it starts playing up, run the back-up. Lot less hassle :).

Yeah, i especially need to start using something like that cause i zero my HDD every month.
Anyways back to normals, 1600 RAM OCed to 1866, 2500k OCed to 4.5, i'm happy i got a HDD windows update, i've started using the page file, and my CPU is getting a little more juice now too.
Here's hoping, i got me eye on the RAM right now, maybe loosen it a little.
Stock 1600 [7 8 7 24], OCed right now to 1866 [9 10 9 24], might try [9 10 10 24] for a little more stability.
