SafeEHHeur.gen virus warning from MSE while playing Crysis2

Post » Sun Sep 11, 2011 3:21 pm

Yesterday i was playing Crysis2 and Microsoft Security Essentials popped up a warning and closed the game.

alert level severe
Virus:Win32/SafeEHHeur.gen
items : process pid : 700
Note that MSE only referenced a 'PID' and no actual file on disk. A disk search for "SafeEHHeur.gen" comes up empty as well.

Doing a google search on SafeEHHeur.gen shows only one link with any real information :
http://failheap-challenge.com/showthread.php?3618-Odd-quot-Virus-quot-popup&p=200866
In the above thread, another user had the EXACT same MSE popup while playing ... Crysis2.

I tried playing Crysis2 again today and i got the same MSE alert popup again. I've used my computer for many other tasks without ever getting an MSE popup, aside from Crysis2.

Has anyone else experienced this? Anyone have any information on what it may be?

Whenever i first install C2 the firewall gets asked to let crysis2.exe connect, which i do, it also asks EAcoreserver.exe(or something like that it's called) to connect, which i do, then the firewall gets asked to receive a connection from another computer<< WHICH I REFUSE.
