Experiences with random NPC's?

My 2nd character Sureal (Breton/Atronach) was leaving the Bruma mages guild last night, and dropped by Olav's tavern. As she was entering, Renee Geonette was leaving. I remembered her as the Imperial City commoner whose husband was working on a symphony from my first game with Azreal. Her conversation options did not include anything related to her husband's symphony work and I wondered what she was doing in a Bruma tavern at 2:10am. So, I decided to follow her. She exited the city gate and proceeded down the path. Surely, she is not traveling back to Imperial City alone, on foot at 2:30am. I continued to speak with her and escorted her to determine exactly where she was going. Predictably, she encountered a timber wolf. I watched her stab helplessly at it with a dagger, while trying to use restore health spells. Finally, I intervened and dispatched the timber wolf. She continued down the path, and encountered a 2nd, more vicious wolf. She attempted to fight, then finally shrieked "I give up" and ran. Again, I killed the wolf, then ran after her. When she saw me, she turned around and continued walking towards the Imperial City. Once we got to the fork in the road (Chorral / IC) she turned towards IC, and I could see it off in the distance. I could also see a mountain lion in the distance that I knew was going to be problematic. I shot a custom fireball at it (duration 10 secs) to tenderize it a bit before it could reach us. It still required some effort to take down, and Renee ran off during the battle. After finishing it off, I searched but could not locate her.

I thought this was weird so I looked on the USEP to examine Renee Geonette's AI package. It said she would occasionally visit a friend in Anvil, and stay at the flowing bowl. Nothing in her package about hanging out in Bruma taverns @ 2:00am, and foolishly trying to walk long distances alone. I am familiar with some of the scripted AI's for NPC's such as city swimmer constantly getting killed for stealing cheese, but these types of random experiences continue to surprise me. Just wondering if anyone else experiences weird interactions with NPC's that seem to go beyond their scripted AI package?

I'm sure I've come across NPCs going off their so-called schedules, as I've researched the occasional NPC here and there, but I'm drawing a blank as to what I may have uncovered in the past.

So I'm just gonna blab for a moment.

I do this occasionally...follow an NPC that is, even as they go long-distance. It's been awhile, though. My first serious character, Renee Gade I, would tag along with Imperial soldiers as she walked down the roads. Some of my characters still do this when they're new, as it's sorta like forming a party with an Imperial, and there's safety in numbers, but eventually walking along at such a slow speed becomes tedious.

I have found Winson (Redguard from the Arena stands) in Bruma Caverns. No idea what he was doing there. Maybe he has a thing for Jearl.

Interesting.. Since I could not find her, I guess I will check back in Bruma, and the Imperial City to see if she made it safely.

It was the 1st time I heard any character yell "I give up", and run when fighting a creature.
It was also the 1st time I actually saw a NPC search a creature... as if looting the carcass for the pelt. (She did this after I killed the 1st wolf)

I don't think I've heard an NPC yell "I give up" when fighting a creature or other NPCs but I don't doubt it is in their repertoire. I do routinely hear it from NPC foes after hitting them with a demoralize spell. They usually yell, "I give up!" or 'Please don't hurt me!" and run away.

On checking corpses, I have seen the guards doing this. When I have seen a Legion Forester checking a deer corpse, it seems that he removes the venison.
