Beth: Please make auto health regen an option, or have it di

well i suppose if it took an hour for the health regen to actually bring your health all the way up i wouldnt mind but then it kinda seems like a pointless addition

Unless it's an extremely weak enchantment, I imagine that will slowly kill you rather than cancel it out.

I'm not too worried about Health Regen. I used a MOD in Oblivion that made it possible and I thought it was nice. Technically your health will only regenerate once you are not "in conflict" so to speak so it's not like Health Regen will affect you in any way in battle.

However that said the option to turn it off for hardcoe mode etc would be nice for those that want it.

It's a very slow health regen, and it only happens outside of combat. So if you're down to 5 points of health in the middle of a fight, and thought "Who needs healing potions? I have health regen!" you're screwed, hiding behind that rock won't remove those arrows from your torso, or those gashes from your skin.

Um....,.. what... does Imo mean?

In my opinion. that is what IMO means

on topic, as I've said before, health regeneration barely contributes to the game. it's so slow, and only works when you don't need it as much(in other words, out of combat). it's just in as an alternative to repeatedly resting/spamming healing spells, which was the only other commonly used way to recover health

not even close.

Why does everybody think that Beth will just add a toggle switch for everything that people might not like?

There's should be a toggle switch for the game itself then. Don't like the game? Just toggle it off. /sarcasm

It's a bit too late for them to change features in this game, or add any lenghty ones. Just accept the game as it will be, as I'm 100% it will be an awesome game.

it might've taken a day to do shields, thus leaving more time and resources for more useful things...like maybe Werewolves, which may or may not be in game already.

why moan about something you havnt even seen properly yet? in all the PAX videos i looked at the health regen when they were out of combat, its minimal like seriously you can hardly even tell.

It's definitely not too late for such a tweak. It would take about 3 mins to implement it as an option, and 2:30 of those 2 mins would be spend navigating to part of the code where you'd add a line or two to make it toggle-able. I guess it would take another few mins to incorporate it into the options menu, but still...

At least for PC, it'll probably just be a matter of just zeroing out a game setting if there's no built in option.

Again, if it's that minimal, then what is the point in even having it there in the first place. It is a useless ability that serves no purpose other to to just be there. I would consider it a http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Dunsel

I'm going to miss using potions and spells to give back health. Maybe the initilization file or console will allow the health regeneration to be turned off? But using the console for codes to turn off something so idiotic as health regeneration would deny the various Steam achievements I believe. Why not a patch for people who use the console except for tgm but for bug and glitch fixes? Even a download which allows the health regeneration to be completely turned off for better immersion in SKYRIM? Honestly I'd much rather have heaps of immersion compared to overly-convenient hand-holding features i.e. health regeneration.
If it's not as a spell or scroll, no thanks. I'm sure there'll be an eventual modification for this.

So what's the point in having it if it's not going to even help that much.

If you heal over time without doing anything, that means you are not obliged to spend a skill slot on restoration or alchemy. So you can play e.g. Conan.

But it should be more difficult to play this way than if you have self healing, obviously.

So the health regen should be at a slow rate.

Which it is according to reports.

I don't think people do. It's pretty normal to have such polarizing and non-essential features toggle-able in games when it's as practical, simple, and community pleasing as this would be. It would fit seamlessly into a difficulty setup at the start of a new game and take mere minutes to implement.

And for those that aren't RP'ing Conan/Hercules? How about the mage that specializes in restoration.

This sounds more like hand holding than actually making gameplay more challenging.

He said the "I" word by ye gods :chaos: ....

Dude you may have missed the notice but those potions and spells you gonna miss using, you still will have to as Health does not regen in battles. Of course judging from the rest of the post I find it hard to believe you are not a troll...

EDIT: here is a reason to have regen

Okay your out of potions and magicka and your health is almost 0, now you can either run back or fast travel all the way to a market buy some and run back or fast travel, or now you can simply hit wait for 24 hours and have half our health back.

I'm attempting to keep myself as much in the dark for this game as much as possible to not be harrowed down by everything explained before I even begin playing SKYRIM. Same as I was for Morrowind and Oblivion. I want that sense of immersion and adventure as I play instead of wanting to read every little tidbit of news again before the game release.
There's a great mod for OBLIVION which has a portable campsite which allows the player character to regenerate health whilst sleeping instead of waiting. So why can't there be a portable campsite, with worthy limitations, for SKYRIM?

EDIT: Again rings, necklaces, pendants and perhaps other random charms would have a subtle add x amount of health every x amount of time. More gradual. Wondering if damage would be area based i.e. FALLOUT 3 and New Vegas where limbs get crippled. Would be worthwhile.
