Fallout 3 Music Files

Post » Tue Sep 13, 2011 9:31 am

Don't post here often, but I do love this website for the miscellaneous question or thought I have. Anyway...

Is there any way to access the music files for Fallout 3 and put them on my iTunes? I would absolutely love to listen to a handful of the songs that are played on GNR every now and then without turning the game on.

Probably not possible for some reason I probably won't understand, but I figured I'd give it a shot.

Thanks, all.

If you're on PC, there is Inon Zur's soundtrack right there in your installation folder. Can't miss it. The radio songs are located in the .bsa files. I won't tell more about it since if you don't know what to do with .bsa's, you'll need to learn to use them.

If you're on console or failed with the .bsa, use Youtube Downloader or similar program to download the songs off Youtube.

Yes, I'm on PC. Should have clarified that before.

So I found the Data file with what appears to have everything in it, but for some reason the .bsa folders won't open. I assume everything I'm looking for would be under "Fallout 3 - Sound.bsa," but the "Windows can't open this file" pop-up appears. I shall look up how to mess with those. Thanks for the help, Pistolero.

EDIT: OK, this might take a little longer than I though. I'll get back to you on if I failed or not, lol.

OK, I can get to the Fallout 3 Archive Utility screen, but when the folders pop up I go to "Sound/Radio/Licensed" and see the songs I want. Problem is that I don't know what to do after that. I went to "Action - Extract Files," but when I go to Fallout's Data folder the .bsa files aren't there (the Music, Shader, and Video folders remain).

Nice to see, for once, people learning quick when talking about computers... :) As a modder I see more than enough of "how can i shoot webz" folks...You have my respect.

Anyway, I personally use Fallout Mod Manager (found in fallout3nexus.com) to open .bsa files. Note that extracting the files may, at least in FOMM's case, extract the songs in their appropriate folder. For example if I decided to extract the files directly to Desktop, it will still extract them in "desktop/sound/radio/licensed".
You might consider using search tool to find the files.

I may have built my own desktop, but I know jack sh*t about software. Google has been my friend in that regard, hehe... But I will give FOMM a try.
