[WIPz/RELz] Tamriellic Glassworks

Rather than maintain separate threads for WIP and Release, I've decided to create a new thread to house both. (See my second post for WIP Content).

Description
-----------------
Glassware in on the Gamebryo engine has always been tricky. Bethesda's wine bottles were extremely simple in execution; not particularly like glass at all. Since the game's release, various authors have attempted to improve on them, however the result has more often than not been a bottle which while much more effective, does not simulate glass terribly well. Tamriellic Glassworks attempts to remedy this using an entirely different form of mesh construction, with the objective of creating realistic bottles which are pleasing to the eye and functional in the game world.

Tamriellic Glassworks: Core:
The core mod adds new wine bottle meshes, textures and icons to the game. Any variety of wine that the player may find in the game has been updated with a new and fresh look. Sit back with a bottle, uncork it, and enjoy.

Tamriellic Glassworks: DLC6 Fighter's Stronghold Addon: (Requires DLC6: Fighter’s Stronghold)
Adds new bottles, and new wines to Battlehorn Castle. Each bottle has now been given a new look and icon, and you will now find that the staff offer two new wines made right at the castle: a red and a white wine for your enjoyment.

Wow. Release is finally out of the way. This thing is going at breakneck pace :).

I wasn't entirely satisfied with the cheap wine bottle as a "Type C'. Somehow it felt a bit too cartoony; just a big 'ol glass bottle, with the world wine taped onto the side and an imperial logo. The wax seal also felt a bit too formal, particularly as I doubt most of the wine is made and distributed by the empire; more likely it is just house wine made locally. So I've taken a cue from the French (and the Morrowind design team, who ultimately may have done the same) and created the "Type D" Wine bottle: A slightly thinner green glass bottle, with a wicker surround. I find myself going through Morrowind's art book and assets quite a bit lately, as it had two things in terms of placeables and statics that Oblivion didn't: style and variety (don't worry, this won't turn into a rant about Oblivion's design direction. Quite frankly it isn't worth the time).

And so presenting: the "Type D" bottle.

Perhaps we may see someone turn this into a candle? Perhaps that someone may be me, who knows. I have a fairly aggressive release schedule planned though, with the next version and next plugin out by Wednesday, along with the next version of the Developer's Resource Kit.

Monday Update:

Work on the new beer bottles is progressing well, with the "Type A" bottle nearly finished. Mesh is a bit more poly-heavy than the wine bottle, but the stopper requires a fair bit more detail this time around. Once this bottle is finished, it will serve as the base for the "Type B" and "C" bottles (ale and mead respectively). Only real snag at this point is that COBL interferes with my pluggin. Methinks that some tweaking is in order.

Oooh... I rather like the new cheap wine bottle! Is the wicker a mesh, or texture?

Out of curiosity, how exactly does COBL interfere? I'm currently using your 1.1 release with COBL, and haven't seen any issues... at least, I don't think I have...

Thanks. The mesh is a bit of both. New basic mesh surrounding the bottle, with a texture sporting a highly detailed normal map.. As for the conflict, there are no issues in 1.1 since COBL doesn't touch the wine bottles. However, since the COBL team elected to add http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=8532 mod, all entries for beer, ale and mead have been altered. Easiest way to deal with the conflict is probably to make a COBL-compatible plugin to go alongside the main one.
