Should be. They have been in every TES game I've played.

Probably, some old katanas from the blades. Probably quite rare now, though

I suppose Akaviri katanas would fit, because of the last Blade and all of that. But weapons will be mostly Nordic.

I rather have them rare and useful than(fairly) common and useless like in Oblivion though :P

Since they have been in every game yet and there are 3 culters that use them bordering skyrim one inside its borders so by the lore they can be in. So many ninja/samaurai/anime buffs play the game so why not. I could give you a 1000 reasons why they should be in but as for me like werewolves I have my fingers crossed for their inclusion.

Hopefully there will be more variation in the Katanas this time. Like a daedric katana for instance...

I liked them in Oblivion, they were a bit better than a silver longsword iirc. Anything more wouldve been weird, since they are just steel swords.

However, maybe we get different kinds of katanas this time (ebony akaviri katana, silver akaviri katana, etc.. deadric wouldnt make sense though, since the blades forged them. )

Im planning on using one as my main weapon, so it would be nice if i could forge one and make it my own.

Well, I agree that they were somewhat usefull on lower lvls, but after a while they simply don't do enough damage or last long anough to be usefull. Several different materials would be great.

There was a Daedric Katana in Oblivion. Goldbrand.

There was also a Ebony Katana in Oblivion, it was the "Ebony Blade". In the previous TES games (Daggerfall, Morrowind) there were Daedric Katanas and Daedric Dai-Katanas. They were the best 1H and 2H weps in both games.

Would be so cool if katanas could be worn on the side of our characters when not unsheathed like the samurais do.
Looks weird when it's worn on the back.

Also would be even more epic if it's swung the way it's designed to.

I agree 100%.

If they have the correct animations for them, I think I'll have a NERDGASM :intergalactic:

In Morrowind we got a regular Daedric Katana that was the same flavor as the other daedric weapons. THAT is what I meant. Also Goldbrand is described as such.."This magical Sword is almost a complete mystery. Thieves tell tales about its golden make and how it was actually forged by ancient dragons of the North. Their tales claim that it was given to a great knight who was sworn to protect the dragons. The Sword lends its wielder the ability to do fire damage on an enemy. Goldbrand has not been sighted in recent history and is said to be awaiting a worthy hero." No mention of Daedra at all. Technically not a Daedric artifact even though Oblivion contradicts that. Lore discrepancy? Lol But why couldn't there be different materials that make different katanas? Personally I am not even a fan of katanas but i think they should be more varied.

Well, it was a daedric artifact because it was tied to a daedric quest.

I'm not a fan of this several materials katanas idea. Katanas in Skyrim should be rare, and I only see the Blades' Akaviri katanas fittings. Weapons should be mostly Nordic-inspired.

The katanas could still be rare you know. In fact all daedric weaponry should be rare. But technically we should be able to forge our own Daedric katanas.
