Was Todd Howard too harsh on Arvel the swift?

Really, a thread about how Todd treated Arvel to harshly.

In all seriousness... he had the current plot coupon you needed, and showed no signs of willingness to surrender it. Time for a Dunmer-kebab.

Thanks MK. There weren't a lot of boundaries, or invisible walls blocking stuff though, right? You could have swam, or gone around the mountains, but chose not to because of time constraints right?

Yes I did not run into any invisible walls....like say NV (shudders)

I'd prolly let him go then kill him when he ran away, like Todd did (I mean my character would probably do that).

Except after a little bit of running, instead of being stabbed in the back, he would run into a wall made of angry ice atronach.

Whenever I watch the demo.. I always think it was a little harsh how Arvel was killed in such a cold blooded manner.. he was no threat and was just after a few coins. But to thrust a sword into his spine like that. :( When I release Arvel I will not kill him, but instead follow him to the end of the quest. If its possible, I will make him a companion.
Where's the problem ... the kill was quick and the pain was short.
Todd probably saved that poor guy from much worse.

He has the Golden Claw AND he is a crimminal. By executing Arvel in such a way he has insured that the scum will slay no more innocent people. Justice my friend... Justice.
