Now it's shredding ALL of my savegames!

All,

Like many in this forum, I encountered the gamesave corruption problem (with Mercenary Pack), though only AFTER I got an update this morning. The first time I encountered it, I loaded up an earlier savegame and kept playing.

Now, at 26 hours of gameplay, it's shredding EVERY gamesave I try to load -- that is, I encountered the error loading the most recent save, then tried to load the previous savegame, then the one previous to that... and it's crashing/shredding on ALL of them (and saying my hard drive is unavailable). I've stopped trying, but I've already erased a few hours of gameplay.

This is a gamekilling bug. Shame on Obsidian for not testing the game and DLC properly before release. I can tolerate game crashes and graphics foibles, but not this.

26 hours is when it did it to me too! Perhaps that's the trigger. 26 hours!

Nope, 9 hours for me. Only had an autosave, didn't expect to NEED to make any other save games.. same as another poster, i'm putting this game down until a patch arrives, not starting again.

I was able to replicate this game-killing bug.

FIrst, I loaded older savegames until I found one that worked. I then disabled auto-saving as much as possible, just to eliminate that from the anolysis.

Having loaded the old savegame (six hours of gameplay lost), I began playing again, making different quest decisions than I did previously. After four more hours of gameplay and two levelling-ups (to 13), I triggered the bug again by doing the same thing -- saving after a key decision, then trying to reload right after saving. Not only did this trigger the "can't find DLC/can't find disk" error on my latest savegame, BUT EVERY SAVEGAME I HAD CREATED SINCE THE FIRST RELOAD, PLUS ONE -- that's right, even the savegame I was ORIGINALLY able to reload an start again with is now corrupted.

Luckily, I was double-saving -- once to the HDD, and once to USB, so I'll have a "clean" file when Obsidian releases a patch.

So, in short -- do not save then reload immediately. Go through a door, quicktravel, or something, then try and reload.

Also, never buy an Obsidian game again. This one was rushed to market just like Knights of the Old Republic II.
