Im a little confused about 3rd person...

In the tgs demo it seems to be centered behind the player... yet thus far its been 3rd person over the shoulder. Not that im complaining.. I hate over the shoulder.. maybe this means we can choose where the camera is centered?

I normally don't like 3rd person at all and would have agreed with the over the shoulder view being terrible. However, after playing Batman: Arkham Asylum, I now think over the shoulder might be the best 3rd person view. The best solution of all, of course, would be having it be an option.

I hope so. The khajiit player we've seen is playing like an idiot, honestly, lol. He's not using a shield although he has one, and isn't choosing to dual-wield or use magic and is simply hacking furiously at those bandits while switching back and forth randomly between 1st and 3rd person. Drives me nuts. Bottom line, though, the 3rd person still isn't great and this is still a 1st person game, clearly. Which is fine, at least 3rd person makes more sense walking around in a town and seems like a viable option for that. Not sold on combat, though.

You can choose the camera position. Pete confirmed it on twitter.

When you aren't equipped with any weapons, magic, etc, the camera is closer to the character, and more over the shoulder. When you pull your weapon out, the camera zooms out and centers. If it's like Fallout and Oblivion, we'll be able to hold the right stick in, and use RT and LT (L2, R2) to zoom in and out and it lock in place. I don't know what the pc controls are for that, lol.
