Do you cheat?

Trust me, we'll all feel better once we admit out guilt and afterwards all those who vote can have a glass of kool aid.

My sinning consists of unlocking the Legionaires hideaway and making off with those cool glasses, the lucky shades. Since I wear glasses in real life I also feel I am entitled to the best spectacles in the game. Other than that, I play a pretty straight up game although if I accidently sell a prized possession I might get a new one. I once accidently sold Veronica's Pushy and cheat coded it back. :swear:

Some instances when I use console commands:
- I have 89 speech and I need 90 to pass a check. I add myself that 1 point, pass the check and reduce the point afterwards.
- I have, say, 47 lockpick and I know that [Average] lock contains some nice look. I unlock the item with console commands.
- I make a "purchase" of ammo: I add myself X amount of ammo and toss away X amount of caps.

Thus I cheat only as temporary solutions to issues I could solve anyway - I'm just taking shortcuts. True cheating as in god mode and adding 99999 carry capacity are not my thing.

Cheaters are pathetic, it just shows your inability to complete a game the right way. I'm proud to say i've never cheated and i never will. Even with the slightest cheat, your letting yourself down, cheaters are just like hackers, pathetic and need a good beating. Rant over.

I have cheated, as in used the console commands, exactly 5 times.

First time was near the tail end of my first playthrough. I did it to resolve the old Ranger Grant bug where he wouldn't let you progress in the "You'll know it when it happens" quest. Specifically, I removed him and then added him again. This was way back before the first patch.

Second time was when, out of curiosity, I used the console to unlock The Tops sub-basemant on my second playthrough. I just wanted to see what was down there.

Third time was when I got locked in the Hidden Valley bunker on my third playthrough after receiving the "Still in the dark" quest. The door was locked and there was no way to open it, and attacking the BoS wasn't an option at level 6.

Fourth time was to remove a buggy perk from a mod I was running, and of course replace it with something that I would have taken on that level up.

Fifth time was to give my character a Hot Plate she'd been scouring the Mojave for an in-game week to find. Stupid crafting recipe, and stupid me/her for giving all the Hot Plates to the Toaster.

I used the console to reset Ranger Andy for Raul's quest. I assumed it was a bug since I thought there was no way they could expect me to not have talked to this guy in Novac by the time I went to Black Mountain.

Other than that no.
