Perhaps not nowadays, but in other times they were used just for that. I don't see how its not related to your post though.
No, they weren't. Axes for wood chopping are shaped with a single edge that forms a wedge at the end so that it effectively cuts into a stump of wood in which the back wedge helps to split it apart. The long handle is used for momentum when you lift it above your head and then slide your hands to the bottom handle groove to generate more power into the axe head. Double bladed axes were never used for that... in fact, I can't even specifically recall anything talking about double bladed axes to begin with, except in fantasy.
The strawman post, linking me the specifics as to why double bladed axes are not used for combat, was not related to my first sentence because my post was specifically in reference to the other poster claiming that double bladed axes are used for chopping wood, which I highly doubt they ever were. Admittedly, I don't know what the hell double bladed axes are used for, so I just went ahead and said that they were used in combat instead of for chopping wood. My point here is that my post was about axes that chop wood rather than axes that are used for combat. I don't think I really care about axes in combat, and that is evident in my incorrect claim that double bladed axes are used in combat.
That is all.
