This is your best option

All you have to do is plug in your console through an HDMI cable, it's what I did when I was still not a PC gamer. It's cheaper than any TV you can find and displays in full 1920x1080 resolution.
It has built in speakers, but it also has an audio out so you could plug it into your PC and have the audio come through that. You also have the option of buying an optical headset if you are using the PS3.
If this is a little too expensive you could go smaller, but at the sacrifice of resolution.
Here is a 20" version, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236106 the only difference is the size and maximum resolution, which won't matter with this game because your console is either going to be 720p(PS3) or 600p(360)
If you decide later to start gaming on a PC, you will already have a monitor to do so. Not to mention this screen is going to have a refresh rate far superior to anything a TV will offer.
Not trying to be mean to those without HD here, but I am totally against any developer going "backwards" with their games and potentially ruin it for others, your game can still be played and from my own experience you can't read things very well but it can stilll be read to a certain degree, basicaly get an HD tv if you can, the difference is just amazing and you can never go back
If this is the case then I am tired of developers having to develop their game for 5+ year old hardware (ps3/360) ... blah blah blah, pot ----> Kettle, and all of that. Not very nice, now is it?
Not everyone can afford an HD TV, just like some of you can't afford a $600 computer.
