Suggested level for starting Bloodmoon?

Post » Tue Sep 01, 2009 11:13 am

Hey so I recently bought Morrowind GOTY via Steam and I started a new character for the Bloodmoon expansion, A Nord Barbarian. The thing is at Lv 4 he keeps getting wrecked by just about anything. I gave up on the smugglers. Do I just svck or should I do this at a higher level, and what is the suggested level?

I think the generally recommended level is 20+ although from my experience, 15 should be OK. Level 4 is definitely too low. Bloodmoon was meant for characters that had already finished the main game.

Alright thanks, guess I'll have to wait a bit
Off topic the reason I started a new Character is because it didn’t seem right for my Telvanni Mage to be helping the legion for no reason

Get the notion out of your head about levels being everything. At level 20+ (more like 30 or 40, it depends when you start maxing out your main abilities), the game starts teetering on your inventory. If you are level 20, but you have crap armor and weapons, you'll have a LOT more trouble then a level 10 person with superior weaponry and armor. However though, even with the best armor in the game you will still get beaten at low levels (because your skills still need to "mature"). Now obviously, health is a big factor, but because of all the stuff you can use (potions galore, scrolls, spells etc.) it's not as big as I think it should be.

Here's an easy test - take the boat to Solstheim, wander out behind the fort, and kill the following creatures: a wolf, a bear, a Frys Hag, and a Spriggan. If you can do this without working up a sweat... you're almost ready.

Since it's the second expansion, I never start it till I've beaten Tribunal. It makes sense that way.

Level 4 is way too low. I would wait until at least level 20. Bloodmoon is challenging even for high level characters.

I cut my teeth doing Bloodmoon first, then Tribunal, saving the Main Morrowind Quest for last. It was hard, but worth it because there are restocking game (wolves and such) that will get those skills up nicely. Besides, there are some nice amounts of treasure on that island.
