Help me setup the perfect (my first) oblivion playthrough

Post » Mon Sep 19, 2011 1:38 am

Greetings, I have never played "The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion" I downloaded the game last night and did the tutorial, made myself an Orc Barbarian who will specialize in 2h Maces...

I am playing on the PC version and interested in making the game look as good as possible. I know there are TONS of mods out there and I want to know which texture packs are generally accepted as the best. If you're heavily into oblivion and know exactly what I need feel free to reply to the thread.

I am also aware there is some tool for installing the mods, I need to know everything about that as well. What is it and where do I get it?

Total texture conversion

  • Landscape
  • weapons
  • NPCs
  • monsters

I also want to edit draw distance and things like field of view, and need to download any mods that fix bugs before I get deep into the world.

Any help is appreciated.

Welcome and enjoy yourself!

Along with the link King Coin gave you ~ here is another one that's really important. http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/775917-compatibility-and-you/

Lots of information in both those two links.

I think my biggest piece of advice is KNOW your hardware. There's some awesome screenshots and beautiful stuff out there for use BUT that doesn't mean it's wise for you to DL and use mostly because only some of the best hardware can run those things.
