Woodcutting

Post » Mon Sep 19, 2011 1:15 pm

I am slightly confusd about how the woodcutting will work. I haven't seen a whole lot of discussions about it (maybe because cutting wood is a bit boring..). Do you actually have to go out and cut trees down? Does this mean that trees need to regrow? Can you cut too many down? Not sure how it all works. Also, if you cut wood is it considered Dovahkindling?

I recall the devs talking about trees falling and limbs breaking due to weather so I think you can chop one down with an axe. I don't know if it's still in but there it is.

I seriously would not mind "professions" and mini games regarding this!

Something else from adventuring is a welcome break and a nice way to make some gold! :)

I wouldn't expect any more than a gimmick with this. If it's more than that, even better!

Seeing as you can mine for raw materials it makes sense that you can chop wood.

I guess there will be proper trees to be cut down, made especially for that, and they will regrow for future woodcutting jobs.

yes but that is not the question. In Oblivion you could harvest things like Amber and iron but you didn't use a pick or an axe.

Pete confirmed that you use a pickaxe to mine for raw metals. So maybe you use an axe to chop wood.

id guess its only certain trees and if you have an axe in your inventory
probably like an inventory thing where you 'open' the tree and take x amount of wood out and probably see some branches missing or something after that

If we can cut down any trees we would move them with the grabbing feature i'm sure by holding down the activate button.

I certainly hope so. Sure would be a nice break from all the hack n slash activites that the game series centers itself around.

centers itself around.

The series is centered around doing whatever you want, going wherever you want. You never have to hack and slash if you don't want too.
